Origina Russian Language Post was Written on the 16.4.2023!
It was 62 years ago (during 1961), during the early hours, in the area of the Cuban village of Playa Giron – battles had already developed against US-CIA mercenaries who had landed on local beaches – arriving from American ships out at sea! Their task was to capture and hold at least a piece of the beach for 72 hours – in order to proclaim a “Provisional Government”! These fascist criminals would then immediately request that the United States support there government! President Kennedy had already arranged this military “Support” which was waiting for the signal to start a massive invasion of Regular US Forces.
These plans were thwarted by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Cuba and the spontaneous support they received from the ordinary Cuban people! In response to the invasion, Fidel – for the first time – proclaimed the “Socialist” nature of the Cuban Revolution! The defeat of the US-CIA mercenaries at Playa Giron was not only the first military victory over an empire just 90 miles from its shores – but also proof of the determination and unity of the vast majority of Cubans – not to allow a return to the US-backed tyranny of the past!
Today, when there are more and more often and more anti-intellectual discussions in the West about “what a paradise” Cuba was before the Revolution – and how everything was “civilized and wonderful” there – it is vitally important to remember the hundreds of thousands of inhabitants of the island who did not want to return “to a US-dominated Liberal Democratic paradise”!
Indeed, when the US-CIA invasion began, the ordinary Cuban people massed together and without waiting for orders from above, they themselves began to create columns of Volunteers, which immediately went into the battle zone to stop the enemy, armed with whatever they already had or could find! Many went into battle “unarmed”! More than a thousand captured US-CIA mercenaries were exchanged by Cuba for medicines and agricultural equipment – forcing the United States to temporarily violate the conditions of the criminal economic blockade of the island – which has been going on now – due to the inherent corruption of President Kennedy – for 63 years!

62 года назад, в эти часы, в районе кубинского посёлка Плая-Хирон уже шли бои против высадившихся с американских кораблей наемников. Их задачей было захватить и удержать в течение 72 часов хотя бы кусочек пляжа, чтобы провозгласить там «временное правительство», которое должно было немедленно обратиться с США с просьбой о поддержке. «Поддержка» ждала этого сигнала для начала массового вторжения регулярных сил. Эти планы были сорваны Революционными Вооруженными силами и поддержавших из народом. В ответ на вторжение, Фидель впервые провозгласил социалистический характер Кубинской революции.
Разгром наемников в Плая-Хирон стал не только первой военной победой над империей всего в 90 милях от ее берегов, но и доказательством решения и решимости огромного большинства кубинцев не допустить возвращения к прошлому.
Сегодня, когда все чаще и наглее появляются рассуждения о том «каким раем» была Куба до революции и как там все было «цивилизованно и замечательно», так важно вспомнить о не пожелавших возвращения «в демократический рай» сотнях тысяч жителей острова, которые только узнав о начале вторжения, не дожидаясь приказов сверху, сами начали создавать колонны добровольцев, которые на чем могли немедленно отправлялись в зону боев, чтобы остановить врага.
Больше тысячи пленных наемников были обменяны Кубой на лекарства и сельскохозяйственное оборудование, вынудив США временно нарушить условия преступной экономической блокады острова, которая продолжается уже 63 год.
