A ceremony celebrating the 58th Anniversary of the founding of the People’s Political Bureau (on May 3rd, 1965) was held on May 3, 2023 at the Horse Training Club, in the Vientiane capital! The place of honour went to Mr. Pot Vanthong Garmani – Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister, Head of the General Department of Political Affairs and Peace Protection – whose duties include the overseeing of Command Committees and many Departments! He was accompanied by many other key Revolutionary Staff!
Mr. Pot Vanthong Gommani pointed out that the history of the origination and background of the General Department of Political Affairs and Peace Protection is closely related to the glorious foundation of the Laos Nation, as well as the Peace Defense Forces, and has served to support the inspired leadership of Anpi Cha – an integrated process which shines brightly throughout the Revolutionary mission to liberate the Nation throughout the past – as well as continuously fulfils the mission of protecting and building the (Buddhist-Socialist) Nation in the present and the future!
May 3rd is one of the most important and significant days in the history of the (collective) Laos Nation and the People’s Armed Forces – because it is the day celebrating the birth (and the 58th Anniversary) of the establishment of the General Political Department for Peace and Security. The General Political Department for Peace and Security is a force that has the most important role at any given time. It acts as a guide for the Ministry of Peace and Security in the field of propaganda work, Party-staff work and political work – whilst it ensures the improvement and strength of the Peace Defense Force in its continuously evolving political-thinking and modern organizational planning!
Since it was established on May 3rd, 1965, the Peacekeeping Force has faced many international challenges, being at the fore-front of the most difficult and complicated situations in the mission to liberate the Laos Nation together with brothers and sisters in the Laos Armed Forces – and across the Nation and Laos people of all tribes! People who have endured, strived to overcome and made limitless sacrifices – enthused together through enhanced patriotism and the unyielding legacy of our ancestors and people!
Through training and testing in the flames of Revolutionary Struggle in such difficult conditions, the Peacekeeping Political Forces – side by side with all the other Departments of specialized activities – has won a great victory (greater than ever before) and generated an excellent epic achievement inscribed in the history of the Laos Nation! Our Peacekeeping Forces which set May 3rd, 1965 – as the date of establishment of the General Department of Peacekeeping Politics – a development approved by the Ministry of Peacekeeping in accordance with agreement No. 1111/Paks, Dated July 3, 2018.
The role, duties and performance of the Peacekeeping Political Forces are always linked to the direct, resolute, and comprehensive leadership of the Laos People’s Revolutionary Party, as well as the Party’s Ministries during each phase of the Revolutionary struggle for National Liberation.
Throughout the past 58 years – by following the guidance provided by the Communist Party – a Peace Defense Force has been constructed that has devised a plan to modify the country step by step. This careful process has required the coordinated compliance of the higher political organizations as well as the correct implementation of all political duties assigned by the Party-State and the people, especially the Party-Staff work and the political work carried-out by the Peacekeeping Force. Throughout the past period, the leadership of the General Political Department for Peace Protection during each generation, as well as the entire force of the General Political Department, have raised their respective burdens of responsibilities and stood shoulder to shoulder with other Specialized Military Departments!
