For us, in the UK, this is very much an American experience. As part of my academic duties, and primarily because of my experience with the Chinese community in the UK and Hong Kong (a former British colony), I am tasked with infiltrating far-right groups in the UK. As we are not armed, it is nowhere near as obviously dangerous as it is in the US – but it does have its risks. Of course, my work is only online and exists in the form of anonymously gathering data by finding out exactly where these people are meeting (I specialise in Telegram) and keeping an eye on what they are doing and saying.
What I see in the US is a vast network of heavily armed militias comprised of men and women who hold prominent positions within mainstream society. Furthermore, many are ex-military and hold viewpoints that are partially or fully supported in the mainstream government. In the UK the far-right has developed rapidly over the last ten-years – after living in the shadows since WWII. After-all, the UK government now bombs Yemen for Israel – and we have Neo-Nazi Ukrainians as neighbours (if we oppose the presence of these fascists – we are termed “racist”). We also have an influx of Hong Kong rioters who all claim to be “Christian” fleeing CPC persecution – but none of them actually know what Christianity is and have to attend weekly lessons!
What I do see is how the US White Supremacy movement has spread to the UK, Western and Eastern Europe – and has redefined what racism actually is. Although Hitler’s “Mein Kampf” is the bible of the far-right – which advises the racially pure to “lie, lie, and lie again” to secure power – in no way did Hitler believe all White people were “Aryan” or “racially” pure! Take the Polish as an example. Catholic Poland became a Fascist State in 1930 and there was widespread celebrations on the Polish streets when Hitler came to power in 1933. Goebbels had a State visit in early 1934 where he discussed the “Russian” problem and this led to the Poles opening the first modern Concentration Camp at Bereza in East Poland in late 1934 (formerly a part of West Russia – invaded by the Poles in 1920).
This was an old Czarist Army Barracks converted to “process” the ethnic Russians. Things carried-on very well between the two countries so that in 1938 – the Polish Army invaded Czechoslovakia alongside the Nazi German Army. Behind the scenes, however, things were not what they seemed on the surface. All Germans knew that Hitler had no respect for the Poles – whom he considered inferior “Slavs” and “race-mixers” – just like the Russians! Remember that in today’s version of White Supremacy – all these groups are considered to be of equal racial purity (even the White Jews have their Zionist fascism). The sudden change of policy by Hitler in 1939 took the Poles completely by surprise – whilst invading Nazi German troops would kill millions. The Polish government today is Neo-Nazi and takes its historical example from the times before Hitler’s betrayal.
My academic view is that the government knows about these White Supremacy groups and movements. Fascism may be totalitarian – but it supports and preserves capitalism – being as it is completely opposed to Socialism. This goes to show that the bourgeoisie is quite happy to jettison liberal democracy if push comes to shove – just as long as capitalism is preserved at any cost. Fascism, in all its forms, prevents the left from gaining any real traction in society and is valuable to the bourgeoisie for exactly this reason. The fear of terrorism is an effective weapon in the right hands – and becomes a type of terrorism in its own right. It is the centralised democracy of the far-left that the bourgeoise fears – as this is the true strength of the workers. This must be stopped at all costs and fascism is a valuable tool in this task.
Racism is useful for the ruling elite. Not just racism among Whites – but equally amongst all ethnic groups. Hitler taught that racism is natural and that the Socialist habit of denying its validity as being the height of unnatural behaviour. What has mainstreamed in the last 20-years is the idea that “racism” is just another harmless viewpoint and a matter of opinion (rather than being just plain “wrong”) – and that ALL ethnic groups practice it with equal disregard for one another’s feelings. The far-right then state that White people become victims of non-White racism if they are taught to be non-racial in their dealings with other ethnic groups. This is the myth of White victimhood which inverts reality and forgets that White people invented the racism we are discussing. This remains true even if it is correct that White racism can spread to non-White groups (where it is adjusted to suit cultural conditions).
