On the March 29th, 2023, Kim Dongmyeong (김동명) – a Researcher at the International Political Research Association – published the following article entitled:
“Is NATO Secretary-General’s Behaviour Encouraging the Creation of an ‘Asian Version of NATO’?”
《나토사무총장의 행각은 〈아시아판 나토〉창설을 부추기자는것인가》
It is said that NATO Secretary-General has embarked on trips to both South Korea and Japan. The fact that a high-ranking official of a military organization that has turned Ukraine into a bloody field of proxy war is flying into the Asia-Pacific region of the Eastern Hemisphere – which is not within its operational area – is itself raising concerns.
It is a well-known fact that NATO has been persistently trying to expand its sphere of influence which has been traditionally limited to the defense of Europe – to the Asia-Pacific region – which has emerged as the strategic centre of the world. Saying that they are opposed to the so-called “change of the status quo by force” – the US controlled NATO still hold aggressive bilateral and multilateral joint military exercises under various names!
These so-called “exercises” include the pushing of NATO armed forces (including aircraft carriers and fighter jets) into other countries whilst reaching out to the Asia-Pacific region! The intention is that of expanding and strengthening exclusive cooperation with security alliances such as “Five Eyes”. In particular, NATO sees South Korea and Japan as key links in realizing their ambitions for hegemony, and has been spurring unprecedented strengthening of bilateral relations with them in recent years.
In April and June of last year (2022), the Chairman of the NATO Military Commission met with Representatives of South Korea and Japan respectively to discuss a closer partnership involving military cooperation. The facts prove this. On the other hand, in May of last year (2022), the Cyber Défense Cooperation Centre – a NATO-affiliated organization – accepted South Korea as a member of the Central Committee, and in October (2022), a NATO National Assembly Federation delegation was dispatched to South Korea to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation.
The fact that South Korea signed a contract for the supply of weapons worth tens of billions of US dollars, including heavy tanks, self-propelled guns, and fighter jets with Poleska, from a NATO member country (and that Japan agreed with Britain and Italy to jointly develop next-generation fighter jets) – is a sign that South Korea and Japan are moving in a different but self-sufficient direction not good for the region.
It proves how far NATO’s central control mechanism has expanded its influence out into Asia. The purpose of NATO, which declared Russia as the “most serious and direct threat” and China as a “systematic challenge” in its new “Strategic Concept” last year (2022), is now openly extending its long arms to warmly embrace South Korea and Japan. The overall goal of the US-led NATO is to manipulate the creation of an “Asian Version of NATO”, which would serve to maintain a US-controlled order and hegemonic status in Asia through these “allies”.
Watching NATO’s recent moves is a worrying activity as countries in the Asia-Pacific region are trying to copy the method of collective confrontation that NATO used in Europe. It is very natural. At a time when the Ukrainian situation is facing a new juncture due to the decision to provide tanks by the US and the West – the NATO Secretary-General – who flew to South Korea and Japan, reiterated the necessity of establishing an “Asian Version of NATO” by constantly instilling the “China threat theory” into anyone who would listen.
It is clear that the DPRK will firmly reject and resist this passive support for US expansion into our region. It is only a matter of time before the military equipment supplied to NATO by South Korea and Japan will start flowing onto the battlefields of Ukraine. South Korea and Japan, which are trying to attract uninvited guests to the region to see what is on sale, should know that far from resolving security anxiety, they are getting closer to an extreme security crisis.
There is nothing good about NATO, a byword for war and confrontation, of putting military boots into the region. The NATO Secretary-General’s actions in South Korea and Japan are a confrontational action and a prelude to a war that brings the toxic cloud of a new “Cold War” to the Asia-Pacific region! Regional countries and the international community should raise their awareness as much as possible about NATO’s increasing steps towards the Asia-Pacific!

나토사무총장의 행각은 《아시아판 나토》창설을 부추기자는것인가

국제정치연구학회 연구사 김동명이 29일 《나토사무총장의 행각은 〈아시아판 나토〉창설을 부추기자는것인가》라는 제목의 다음과 같은 글을 발표하였다.
나토사무총장이 남조선과 일본행각에 나섰다고 한다.
우크라이나를 대리전쟁마당으로 만들어놓은 군사기구의 고위책임자가 자기의 작전령역도 아닌 수륙만리 떨어진 동반구의 아시아태평양지역에 날아든다는 사실자체가 우려를 키우고있다.
오래전부터 나토가 유럽방위에 국한된 자기의 세력권을 세계의 전략적중심으로 떠오른 아시아태평양지역에까지 확대해보려고 끈질기게 시도해왔다는것은 잘 알려진 사실이다.
이른바 《힘에 의한 현상변경》을 반대한다고 운운하며 항공모함과 전투기를 비롯한 나토성원국들의 무장력을 들이밀어 각종 명목의 쌍무 및 다자합동군사연습을 벌려놓는가 하면 《오커스》와 《쿼드》,《5개의 눈》과 같은 배타적안보동맹들과의 협력을 확대강화하는 수법으로 아시아태평양지역에 손을 뻗치려 하고있다.
특히 나토는 저들의 패권야망실현에서 남조선과 일본을 관건적인 고리로 보면서 최근년간 이들과의 쌍무관계강화에 전례없이 박차를 가하고있다.
지난해 4월과 6월 나토군사위원회 위원장이 남조선과 일본을 각각 행각하여 보다 긴밀한 동반자관계와 군사협력을 모의한데 이어 6월말에는 에스빠냐의 마드리드에서 진행된 수뇌자회의에 사상 처음으로 남조선과 일본을 참가시킨 사실이 이를 립증해주고있다.
그런가 하면 지난해 5월 나토산하기구인 싸이버방위협력쎈터에 남조선을 정성원으로 받아들이였으며 10월에는 나토국회련맹대표단을 남조선에 파견하여 쌍무협력강화를 론하였다.
남조선이 나토성원국인 뽈스까와 중땅크,자행포,전투기를 비롯하여 수백억US$에 달하는 거액의 무기판매계약을 체결하고 일본이 영국,이딸리아와 다음세대전투기공동개발에 합의한것은 남조선과 일본을 자기의 영향력확대를 위한 장기쪽으로 써먹으려는 나토의 흉심이 어느 지경에까지 이르렀는가를 방증해주고있다.
지난해 새로운 《전략개념》에 로씨야를 《가장 중대하고 직접적인 위협》으로,중국을 《체계적인 도전》으로 쪼아박은 나토가 오늘날 남조선과 일본에 로골적으로 긴 팔을 뻗치고있는 목적은 너무나도 명백하다.
추종세력들과 결탁하여 저들의 패권적지위와 질서유지에 복무하는 《아시아판 나토》를 조작하자는것이 미국주도의 나토가 노리는 총적지향점이다.
우려스러운 나토의 최근행보를 보며 지역내 나라들이 나토는 유럽에서 써먹던 집단적대결수법을 아시아태평양에도 복사하려 하고있다,남조선과 일본은 나토세력을 아시아태평양지역에 끌어들이지 말아야 한다고 경종을 울리고나선것은 지극히 당연하다.
미국과 서방의 땅크제공결정으로 우크라이나사태가 새로운 고비를 맞고있는 때에 남조선과 일본에 날아든 나토사무총장이 이번에도 그들에게 《중국위협론》을 부단히 불어넣으며 《아시아판 나토》창설의 필요성을 재삼 강조하고 대우크라이나군사지원에 소극적으로 나서고있는데 대해 단단히 신칙하고 압을 가하리라는것은 불보듯 명백하다.
나토에 흘러드는 남조선과 일본의 무장장비들이 우크라이나전장에 나타나는것은 시간문제이다.
지역에 불청객을 끌어들여 제볼장을 보려는 남조선과 일본은 안보불안을 해소하기는커녕 오히려 극도의 안보위기에 더욱 가까이 다가서고있다는것을 알아야 한다.
전쟁과 대결의 대명사인 나토가 지역에 군화발을 들여놓는것은 열이면 열,백이면 백 좋은 일이 하나도 없다.
나토사무총장의 남조선과 일본행각은 아시아태평양지역에 《신랭전》의 불구름을 몰아오는 대결행각,전쟁의 전주곡이다.
지역나라들과 국제사회는 아시아태평양에로 향한 나토의 발걸음이 잦아지고있는데 대해 최대로 각성을 높여야 할것이다.(끝)
