In modern Russia – which is bourgeois, reactionary, and anti-Soviet, there are plenty of examples of false, inaccurate, and disinforming articles which demonise and denigrate the USSR. The idea is that the ruling elite continues to brain-wash the youth of the country from admiring the USSR, and away from re-committing themselves to Socialism. It is an effective strategy as it links “getting-on” within modern (capitalist) Russia with demeaning the past – usually for financial reward. Even though there are very good and reliable articles that correctly convey the Revolutionary character of the USSR – many others are basically perpetuating US anti-Soviet propaganda – only published internally and wtitten in the Russian language. Today, for instance, I saw the lie that the USSR was “racist” – when in fact Alexander Werth discuses at length how around 200,000 Americans were living and working in Russia in 1959 – many of them openly dating Soviet citizens. I had English relatives who regularly visited the USSR in the 1960s – and they talked about how the USSR was comprised of many different people – including Asians, Turks, and Arabs, etc, and this just in the 15-countries that comprised the USSR. Years later, I learned that at least Republics of the USSR were “Buddhist” and of various ethnicities (including “Tibetan”). More to the point, the 1936 Soviet Constitution guaranteed racial equality for a) everyone born in the USSR, and b) for everyone – or relocating to – visiting the USSR. Even today, I am often mistaken for a “Russian” of the Soviet-era – as this explains my “Chinese” partner. This often happens in and around the Soviet War Memorial in London. Modern Russian people, at least those in the pay of the US, should stop lying about the glorious past that is the USSR. It was – and still remains – the US (not Russia or the USSR) that is the most racist country on earth. Even their Black President Obama instigated Neo-Nazism in Ukraine – destroying the Slavic people both sides of the divide. I wish young Russians would think about what they are writing – about the false narratives they are buying into. This is why I have carried-out a lot of translation work for the Communist Parties of Lugansk and Donetsk – as that is my ideological doorway into modern Russia. Of course, I am not Russian – and do not pretend to be. I am a Sinotised Celt – and that’s about it. I value historical truth other disinformation. The world could learn much under a USSR under Lenin and Stalin. After-all, 41 million Soviets were killed and wounded assisting the UK as allies during WWII. This is my considered opinion. Ethnic Russians, even those who embrace the greed and decadence of predatory capitalism – need not side with US anti-intellectualism. I was studying the rather pointless “Hula-Hoop” – marketed by the US in the 1950s and 1960s (the lie was that this exercise was better than walking or running). Western trends were permitted in the USSR – even if the Establishment disapproved. In the Soviet Union, the Hula-Hoop appeared in the early 1960s – although it was declared “a symbol of the emptiness of American culture”.
