Mariupol: Soviet Archive Documents – Liberation 1943! (21.4.2022)

The Russian Defense Ministry published archival documents on the liberation of Mariupol from Nazi invaders in September 1943.

Among the materials are photographs of destroyed buildings and a record of atrocities committed by the Nazi occupiers in the period from October 8, 1941 to September 10, 1943. One act in particular, tells about the torture and murder of civilians. The ministry emphasizes that “the Nazis, like modern Ukrainian nationalists, carried out part of their bloody ferocious actions in order to discredit the Soviet soldiers-liberators.”

“Often, German propagandists carried out cruel reprisals on civilians to create false impressions, just like Ukrainian nationalists are currently doing using Western media,” the Ministry of Defense notes.

For example, the document states that on the first day of the occupation, the SS captured 26 civilians and, after torture, walled them up to die in basements. The SS then showed the dead bodies to the population – saying these were the victims of the NKVD! Later, Western historians used these fabrications to to falsely claim that there was no difference between the Soviet NKVD and the Nazi German SS!

Минобороны России опубликовало архивные документы об освобождении Мариуполя от немецко-фашистских захватчиков в сентябре 1943 года.

В числе материалов – снимки разрушенных зданий и акт о зверствах и злодеяниях немецко-фашистских оккупантов в период с 8 октября 1941 года по 10 сентября 1943 года. В акте, в частности, рассказывается о пытках и убийствах мирных жителей. Министерство подчеркивает, что “гитлеровцы, как и современные украинские националисты, часть своих кровавых свирепых акций проводили с целью дискредитации советских воинов-освободителей”.

“Нередко немецкие пропагандисты для создания фейков проводили жестокие манипуляции над мирными гражданами, точно так же в настоящее время поступают украинские националисты, используя западные СМИ”, – отмечает Минобороны.

К примеру, в документе указано, что в первый день оккупации эсэсовцы захватили 26 мирных жителей и после пыток замуровали их в стенах подвала, а спустя время показывали населению под видом жертв НКВД.
