Introduction to the experiment
· Experimental time: May ~ August 2026
· Group arrangement: Volunteers will be randomly divided into control group and exercise group, and the total bed rest time will be approximately 15 days or 30 days according to different groups, which may be appropriately extended according to the progress of the experiment, up to a maximum of 60 days.
· Experimental procedure:
1. Before bedridden: unified physical examination, special training and testing;
2. During bedridden: complete daily activities such as eating, washing, sleeping, urination, and related tests in a low head position of 6° or high head in bed, of which the exercise group will exercise according to the procedure every day;
3. After being bedridden: Undergo another physical examination, testing and physical recovery.
Basic requirements for volunteers
1. Male, Chinese nationality, age 30~55 years old, height 160~175cm, body mass index (BMI: weight Kg / height m²) 18.5~26, junior high school education or above;
2. The naked visual acuity of both eyes is not less than 0.1, and the corrected visual acuity is not less than 0.8, and there is no colour blindness;
3. Good health, normal exercise function, and balanced daily diet;
4. No history of severe allergies;
5. No metal implants in the body;
6. No severe snoring and no history of sleepwalking;
7. No history of mental illness, psychiatric, genetic disease or infectious disease;
8. No bad habits such as tobacco dependence, alcohol dependence, drug dependence, Internet dependence, and poison use;
9. Support the party’s line, principles and policies, consciously abide by national laws and regulations, and have no violations of laws and disciplines.
10. Obey the organization and obey commands, and families support the participate in the experiment;
11. Have good communication and social skills;
12. Have good psychological quality and willpower.
Exclusion Criteria
Those who have the following conditions will not be able to participate in this experiment:
1. Suffering from sports skeletal system diseases: bone/joint/spine injuries and sequelae, chronic low back and leg pain, lower limb vascular and thrombotic diseases;
2. Suffering from digestive, urinary, anorectal diseases: cholecystitis, gallstones, liver and kidney diseases, urinary system inflammation/stones, severe hemorrhoids, anorectal diseases, tumors, etc.;
3. Respiratory diseases: chronic bronchitis, asthma, emphysema, tuberculosis, etc. with respiratory dysfunction;
4. Circulatory and metabolic diseases: hypertension, blood diseases, diabetes, gout, immune diseases and endocrine diseases;
5. Neuropsychiatric diseases: central/peripheral neuropathy, epilepsy, narcolepsy, history of mental illness, and immediate family members within three generations suffer from mental illness;
6. Diseases of the five senses: intraocular diseases, glaucoma, inner ear diseases with repeated vertigo, severe allergic rhinitis, etc.;
7. Infectious and intractable skin diseases and venereal diseases.
Volunteer income
1. Free health examination: Volunteers who pass the preliminary review will receive one free physical examination;
2. Guarantee during the experiment: free accommodation and 2 sets of clothing during the experiment;
3. Experimental subsidy: Volunteers who complete the whole experiment can receive about 2~70,000 yuan of trial subsidies;
4. Reimbursement of transportation expenses: Those who are selected to participate in the experiment can be reimbursed for the round-trip travel expenses to participate in the selection and experiment.

The experiment, called the Earth Star-3 bed-rest study, is scheduled to begin in Beijing later this year, the China Cosmonaut Research and Training Centre said Wednesday. Participants may receive up to 70,000 yuan ($10,300) in compensation.
(ECNS) – China is recruiting volunteers for a bed-rest experiment designed to simulate the effects of microgravity as part of research into long-duration spaceflight, state media reported.
Volunteers will be randomly assigned to either a control or exercise group and will remain in bed for about 15 to 30 days, with the total period not exceeding 60 days.
Participants must stay in either a six-degree head-down or head-up bed position while eating, sleeping and undergoing medical tests. Those in the exercise group will also complete scheduled daily workouts.
Researchers use the head-down position to mimic the redistribution of body fluids and reduced muscle activity experienced by cosmonauts in space.
The study aims to examine effects on cardiovascular function, bone density and muscle loss, and to test countermeasures for long-term missions.
The training centre has previously conducted 15-day, 60-day and 90-day bed-rest studies.
