Translator’s Note: Modern Russia is a Socialist-friendly capitalist State – and the differences with the USSR are clear to see. Now, nobody likes their country being invaded, but Napoleon was a Socialist who successfully invaded a despotic Czarist Russia that brutally oppressed its people (modern Russian rhetoric hints that “Russian nationalism” negates the oppression of the peasants and serfs – which is obviously a bourgeois lie). The reality is that Napoleon’s Socialism would have benefitted the average (impoverished) Russian serf. Napoleon was not Hitler. What I am saying here – was part of the common discourse within Soviet times. Furthermore, Napoleon was not “defeated” by the Czarist Russian (he militarily defeated the Russians) – but whilst sat in the Kremlin eating caviar and smoking cigars – news arrived that a coup had started in Paris – and he was to leave straightaway. Out of the 600,000 (victorious) troops that followed him into Russia – only 50,000 managed to “walk” back to France – surviving the minus 50 degrees Celsius on the roads and in the fields. In a very real sense, Napoleon defeated himself and the Russians benefitted from this turn of fortune. Another glaring difference is that the USSR cut-off diplomatic links with Israel a number of times (the longest between 1967-1991) for its Zionist fascism and murderous policies in Gaza. Modern Russia maintains a very good relationship with Israel and refuses to support the UN ruling of “Genocide”. This attitude is seen in the fact that within the context of these “Anti-Fascist Forms” – Israeli “Zionism” is not permitted to be included within the list of far-right ideologies – or those ideologies that support, sponsor, or encourage “Terrorism”. From May 24 to May 26, the III International Anti-Fascist Forum “The Fight against International Terrorism, Arbitrariness and Aggression. For Peace and Security”. It is attended by the first secretary of the Novosibirsk Regional Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Anatoly Lokot.
“This forum is an important discussion platform for politicians, public figures and citizens who are not indifferent to the fate of peace on the planet. The event brought together communists and members of progressive movements from all over the world who stand on anti-fascist positions,” commented Anatoly Lokot.
Chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, head of the Communist Party faction in the State Duma Gennady Zyuganov spoke at the opening of the III International Anti-Fascist Forum.
Speaking to the participants, Gennady Zyuganov noted that the forum has a special historical significance. He stressed that today a real war of annihilation is being waged against the Russian world, which has a thousand-year history and saved Europe from destructive invasions three times (from Batu, Napoleon and Hitler), by NATO and Anglo-Saxon forces.
The leader of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation recalled the price at which the victory over fascism was achieved: the country paid with 27 million lives of its best sons and daughters. He emphasized the role of the Communists in the defeat of Nazism: in May 1945, during the storming of Berlin, seven out of ten soldiers were Communists and Komsomol members. At that time, it seemed that the world had managed to put an end to this evil that enslaved Europe and tried to destroy the world’s first Soviet state of workers and peasants.
However, according to Zyuganov, the threat has not disappeared – it has been revived in a new form. The leader of the party pointed out that the once prosperous Ukrainian SSR, where more than 50 million people lived, the best aircraft, missiles and ships were produced, and the population was distinguished by a high level of education and decent living conditions, turned into a hotbed of Nazism. Today, this territory, he stressed, has become a “Nazi lair” spreading terrorist threats around the world.
Zyuganov focused on the fact that an effective fight against modern terrorism and resurgent fascism requires a strong will, a deep knowledge of history, reliance on the unique experience of past victories, and the maximum consolidation of peoples and progressive forces of the planet.
He also recalled the traditions of holding such forums: the first one started in Minsk on the birthday of Vladimir Ilyich Lenin with a visit to Khatyn, a village burned down by the Nazis along with its inhabitants, which allowed all the delegates to feel the real danger of barbarism. The previous forum, timed to coincide with the 80th anniversary of the Victory, began in Moscow – at Lenin’s Mausoleum and the Kremlin necropolis, where the marshals and generals led by Zhukov, who ensured the defeat of Hitler’s fascism, are buried.
At the end of his speech, Zyuganov thanked the forum participants – 180 delegations from almost 100 countries, representing communist, workers’ and people’s patriotic organizations – for their readiness to continue the joint fight against fascism and terrorism.

С 24 по 26 мая в Москве проходит III Международный антифашистский форум «Борьба против международного терроризма, произвола и агрессии. За мир и безопасность». В нем принимает участие первый секретарь Новосибирского обкома КПРФ Анатолий Локоть.
— Этот форум — важная дискуссионная площадка для политиков, общественных деятелей и граждан, неравнодушных к судьбе мира на планете. Мероприятие собрало коммунистов и участников прогрессивных движений со всего мира, стоящих на антифашистских позициях, — прокомментировал Анатолий Локоть.
На открытии III Международного антифашистского форума выступил председатель ЦК КПРФ, руководитель фракции КПРФ в Госдуме Геннадий Зюганов.
Выступая перед участниками, Геннадий Зюганов отметил, что форум имеет особое историческое значение. Он подчеркнул: сегодня против Русского мира, обладающего тысячелетней историей и трижды спасавшего Европу от разрушительных нашествий (от Батыя, Наполеона и Гитлера), ведётся настоящая война на уничтожение со стороны НАТО и англосаксонских сил.
Лидер КПРФ напомнил, какой ценой была достигнута победа над фашизмом: страна заплатила 27 миллионами жизней своих лучших сынов и дочерей. Он особо выделил роль коммунистов в разгроме нацизма: в мае 1945 года, во время штурма Берлина, семь из десяти солдат были коммунистами и комсомольцами. Тогда казалось, что миру удалось поставить жирную точку в борьбе с этим злом, поработившим Европу и попытавшимся уничтожить первое в мире Советское государство рабочих и крестьян.
Однако, по словам Зюганова, угроза не исчезла — она возродилась в новой форме. Лидер партии указал, что некогда процветавшая Украинская ССР, где жили более 50 миллионов человек, производились лучшие самолёты, ракеты и корабли, а население отличалось высоким уровнем образования и достойными условиями жизни, превратилась в очаг нацизма. Сегодня эта территория, подчеркнул он, стала «нацистским логовом», распространяющим террористические угрозы по всему миру.
Зюганов акцентировал внимание на том, что для эффективной борьбы с современным терроризмом и возрождающимся фашизмом необходимы твёрдая воля, глубокое знание истории, опора на уникальный опыт прошлых побед, максимальное сплочение народов и прогрессивных сил планеты.
Он также напомнил о традициях проведения подобных форумов: первый стартовал в Минске в День рождения Владимира Ильича Ленина с посещения Хатыни — деревни, сожжённой нацистами вместе с жителями, — что позволило всем делегатам ощутить реальную опасность варварства. Предыдущий форум, приуроченный к 80‑летию Победы, начался в Москве — у Мавзолея Ленина и Кремлёвского некрополя, где покоятся маршалы и генералы во главе с Жуковым, обеспечившие разгром гитлеровского фашизма.
В завершение своей речи Зюганов поблагодарил участников форума — 180 делегаций почти из 100 стран, представляющих коммунистические, рабочие и народно‑патриотические организации, — за готовность продолжать совместную борьбу с фашизмом и терроризмом.
