When during Trump I – there was a wide sweeping shut-down of freedom of speech throughout the press and social media. Even government outlets had to moderate their tone. Then, when Trump was ousted – and became subject to the very censorship he had introduced – he started perpetuating the false idea of a “Communist Plot” in the West designed to shut-down free speech! Criticising Trump and the behaviour of his supporters became the epitome of an attack on liberal democracy! Just sit with this for a moment. Trump’s adherence to limiting the scope of debate (as it allows his fascist rhetoric to be subject to logic and reason) became the very attribute that Trump accused his political opponents of perpetuating! In the meantime, Trump’s opponents had been firmly muzzled by a right-leaning administration – and were (and doing) very little of substance.
Everyone had the false idea that when Trump lost the 2021 US Election – America had finished with its dalliance with obvious far-right ideology – how wrong we all were! In many ways, Tump I was a prelude of what the far-right could do with liberal, democratic power, albeit interfered with by Covid-19. Indeed, we can thank Covid-19 for keeping the lid on the damage Trump I could have achieved – if he had had a free run. It is difficult to apply full-on fascism when a world-wide pandemic is being fought – despite many of Trump I’s supporters believing that Covid-19 was a myth passed-on via the vaccination! The so-called “China Virus” as Trump I referred to it – or a “Communist Plot” activated by 5G Wifi as many of Trump’s supporters laughingly believed – and still believe! Then, there was the outrageous January 6th (2022) attack on the Capitol by Trump’s far-right (Christian) supporters – aided and abated by the Police and Security Staff who quite often just “stepped aside” – wishing the Neo-Nazis “well” as they short-circuited the liberal, democratic process!
Trump was fervently persecuted by the Democratic-dominated political landscape following Trump I – but all the Democrats were doing was maintaining the lack of freedom of speech that Trump I had firmly established. A powerless Trump became a victim of the powerful Trump I administration – albeit by default. Far-right rhetoric was severely punished, whilst mainstream (bourgeois) hypocrisy became the new norm. Even under a senile Biden – the left in the US remained firmly shackled and muzzled. Interestingly, Trump blamed his persecution on the left – whilst the Democrats blamed Trump’s continued support also on the left! Really? How could this be? Well, the left is so persecuted and downtrodden in the US that such misrepresentation is normal for leftists. The US system prefers the mainstream bourgeoisie – just as long as it leans to the right – and never the left. This is why there is always the threat of the right and far-right breaking-out of this coral and achieving political power for themselves – as we see today with Trump II.
As the US is dominated by anti-intellectualism – the left has been completely deconstructed and re-invented into an alien concept premised upon the “devil” as found within Christian theology. Freedom of speech under Trump I and II is nothing less than the far-right saying anything it wants – and doing anything to anyone it prefers. Centrists bourgeois ideology is now viewed as “Communist” – with leftist and far-left rhetoric declared “Bolshevik” and “Marxist”. As the average US citizen knows NOTHING about Marxism, what the American far-right is discussing is nothing but its own deficient (and hate-filled) imagination. In many ways, the far-right hates itself and what it represents – in other words its own ugly reflection – and calls this hideous reality “Communism”. Of course, what the far-right represents has nothing to do with “Communism”. For Trump I and II – freedom of speech – is anything the far-right wants to say, with Communist oppression being defined as any “resistance” to this fascism!
