After China’s Reform and Opening Up of the early 1980s, Americans adopted thousands of Chinese orphans, which on the surface became a good story in the history of Sino-US exchanges, but which was used by the US to cast all kinds of negative allegations onto the the Chinese Socialist System. Even before this – from the second half of the 19th century to the 1930s – there was also a social trend of large-scale adoption of Chinese orphans in the US, known as the “Orphan Train Movement”. This is odd – as the “Chinese Exclusion Act” was passed by the US government in 1882 – designed to keep all Chinese people “OUT” of the US! This was the first Act in history to exclude a group of people entirely premised on their “race” – and is an Act that has been subsequently used across the Western world as a template for all xenophobic legislation.
During this period, about 250,000 orphaned, abandoned or homeless children were transported by train from China to all parts of the US, mainly to rural communities in the Midwest, and adopted by local families to provide these children with a relatively good living environment. Much of this adoption was motivated by Western Christain Missionaries working in China during the last days of the Qing Dynasty. These interlopers viewed Chinese religion as evil – and Chinese culture as backward – and so removing these children to a foreign (Christian) land was viewed as “saving their souls”.
I have reported elsewhere how Chinese children sent abroad have been tortured, raped, and even murdered – at the hands of racist adopters – or their collaborators. Although some find comfortable and stable homes – I exclude these good people from this assessment – many others are subjected to blatant or subtle abuses. The forced conversation to Christianity is one example, as is the continuous demonisation of China and its socio-economic system. Many Chinese children are “internally colonised” by Whiteness and rendered completely unable to defend themselves whilst living in European society. Chinese girls and women, for instance, are particularly susceptible to psychological, emotional, and physical (sexual) abuse. This process even occurs in Asian areas dominated by the US – such as the Philippines, Taiwan, South Korea, and Japan. In these US colonies the Asian women are culturally conditioned to be submissive sexual playthings for visiting Western men (this also includes child-trafficking and paedophilia). This is why I agree with the decision of the Communist Party of China (CPC) to limit International (across borders) adopting of ethnic Mainland Chinese children to only their ethnically Chinese relatives living abroad. This action will cut-off the avnue of abuse that foreigners sometimes use to brainwash Chinese children against China and the Chinese system!

中国改革开放后美国人领养了成千上万的中国孤儿，成为美中交往史上的佳话。在美国历史上，从19世纪下半期到20世纪30年代也曽出现过大规模领养孤儿的社会风潮，被称为孤儿列车运动（Orphan Train Movement），期间约有25万名孤儿以及被父母遗弃或无家可归的儿童由一列列火车运送到全国各地，主要是中西部广大乡村社区，由当地成年人领养，为这些孩童提供相对良好的生活环境。

China adjusts its cross-boarder adoption policy

(ECNS) — The Chinese government has adjusted its cross-boarder adoption policy, henceafter, apart from the adoption of a child or stepchild from one’s collateral relatives by blood of the same generation and up to the third degree of kinship by foreigners coming to China, China will not send children abroad for adoption，Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said on Thursday at a press conference.
This is also in line with the spirit of relevant international covenants, Mao added.
“We express our appreciation to those foreign governments and families, who wish to adopt Chinese children, for their good intention and the love and kindness they have shown,” said the spokesperson.
