Blogger’s Note: The collective West appears to be wedded to a (false) one-dimensional history that would not pass a basic 6th Form Examination – let alone pass muster for any type of degree. Just recently, the Canadian government took down a monument – placed in a cemetery for Canadians killed fighting Nazism during WWII during the late 1980s – dedicated to those Ukrainians who fought for Hitler against the Western Allies and against the Soviet Union. The Ukrainians never fought against Hitler but were materially supported by him (after the war, the Catholic Church – which had supported fascism and Nazism – put-out the false propaganda that the far-right Ukrainians were somehow on the Allies side). Needless to say, from the very beginning, Canadian and Jewish organisations campaigned against this insulting monument (which featured a swastika) – before it was taken down as an insult to the victims of the far-right. Of course, the policy of Russo-phobia has led the West (since the Obama Administration) to mispresent the Russians (who are currently fighting Unkranian Neo-Nazism) and eulogise the Ukrainians who are Neo-Nazis. Millions of these Ukrainian deficients now live amongst us in the West – whispering into the ears of our children that their great grandparents fought on the wrong side during WWII. The danger in the UK – a country that gave 10,000 Ukrainian SS soldiers political asylum in Scotland after WWII at the behest of the then Pope) – is that if you report these happenings to the Authorities – it is us who is likely to be arrested. To be clear, we are discussing the “Організація українських націоналістів” (Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists) or “OUN” for short. This was a far-right umbrella organisation that co-ordinated Catholic-inspired and far-right paramilitary, military, and terroristic activity in West Ukraine and parts of Poland.
Indeed, it was the Catholic-faith of the perpetuators that bound them together into a coheret subculture which had been agitating against Socialism ever since 1917 – at the behest of the Vatican (and afterwards during the 1930s – Trotsky). Of course, the authors of the BBC article does not want the average reader to know any of this – so it is omitted. This is like those school history books found in Japan which teach that WWII started with the dropping of two atomic bombs. The BBC authors want you to focus on the “Украинская повстанческая армия” or the “Ukrainian Insurgent Army” (UPA) – and nothing more. In fact, the “UPA” was a far more extremist version of its fascist mother organisation – the “Организация украинских националистов (бандеровцы)” or the “Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (Bandera) – OUN (b). Indeed, it is from this latter formation that the modern Neo-Nazi “Armed Forces of Ukraine” (AFU) derives. Its founding ideology is as follows: “Ukrainian integral nationalism, anti-communism, anti-Sovietism, anti-Polonism, anti-Semitism.” The BBC chose to omit the following:
1) The UPA was Nazi and an off-shoot of the OUN (b).
2) The UPA fought “for” and “not against” Nazi Germany.
3) As an Axis member – the UPA was an enemy of the Western Allies.
4) The UPA murder and maimed millions of Soviet citizens.
5) The UPA murdered and maimed millions of Jews, Orthodox, Poles, Gypsies, Disabled, Socialists, Communists, Homosexuals, and Dissidents.
6) The UPA was materially and morally supported by the Catholic Church.
7) Although Ukrainians are Russians (Slavs sharing a common DNA origin) – Ukrainian racism is Russophobic.
8) Poland was a fascist State between 1930-1939 and was a staunch ally of fascist Italy (read “the Vatican”) and Nazi Germany. When Hitler came to power in 1933 – the Poles danced on the streets out of joy. In 1934 Goebbels paid a State visit to Poland – and later that year the first modern Concentration Camp was opened in the Bereza area of East Poland (to “process” unwanted ethnic Russians). In 1938, Polish troops joined that Nazi German brothers in a combined fascist invasion of Czechoslovakia. Hitler, in his madness, betrayed the Poles in 1939 – on the grounds that they were racially inferior Slavs – and not racially superior Aryans. Churchill was annoyed by this development – as he wanted to possess the “Polish Corridor” as a means of invading the USSR and saving the Russians from Communism (something he had tried and failed at between 1918-1921). The UK “invented” a false back-story that laughably painted a fascist Poland as somehow mirroring an English village on a beuatuful summer’s day. All lies, or course.
9) the British Journalist – Alexander Werth – personally knew an NKVD Special Forces soldier who was tasked with fighting the UPA between 1944-1947 – when it was finally smashed. Initially, The Soviet Red Army had liberated Western Ukraine – but reported that a Ukrainian faction (commanded by unsurrendered Nazi German Officers) had taken to the forested areas and were fighting a guerrilla war. Furthermore, the Red Army had uncovered stashes of hidden weapons intended for the UPA that had originated from the UK and US – which was suspicious. Stalin took the position that as the US and UK were still officially allies – it could not be proven the weapons had been directly given to the UPA. It was more likely, given the circumstances, that the Nazi Germans had captured these supplies and diverted them to an ally when German supplies were low and needed for the frontlines.
10) It is a blatant “lie” that UPA ever fought the Nazi Germans – it was a staunch ally of Hitler and carried-on fighting until its total destruction in 1947 (there were the odd attack on German police stations and depots – but this was when the Nazis were losing and being pushed back. This demonstrates how the UPA possessed no moral backbone at all – and would attack its allies. Either way, these minor opportunistic attacks did not alter its pro-fascist ideology or murderous intent). With Truman coming to power – all the agreements and treaties that favoured the USSR were dissolved, abandoned, or ignored – as the US sought to create a new enemy. Since the resurgence of Ukrainian Neo-Nazism – a completely new pseudo-history has been developed – replete with fake lineages and wannabe generals and leaders. This truly is the domain of mental illness – but a mental illness encouraged by the West and its anti-intellectual mouthpieces such as the BBC! Finally, modern Russia is a bourgeois, capitalist State which possesses a mixed bag of historians. Some take the Western approach of demonising the USSR (a form of self-hate) – and in so doing excuse the behaviour of the UPA – whilst others are not supportive of the USSR – but oppose the UPA (basically – Russian Nationalists). There are a few modern Russian historians who are level-headed and sane and do not apologise for the USSR – but seek to have its history properly expressed and understood. ACW (21.6.2026)

Zelensky returns highest Polish honour after award stripped
Joshua Cheetham – 20.6.2026
Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky says he has returned Poland’s highest honour after his Polish counterpart Karol Nawrocki said he was stripping him of the award.
The Polish Order of the White Eagle was bestowed on Zelensky in 2023 by then-President Andrzej Duda.
But Kyiv caused outrage last month after renaming a Ukrainian army unit after a group of controversial World War Two fighters called the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA).
Three senior Ukrainian officials have also said they are returning awards bestowed by Poland, to show solidarity with their president.
Many in Ukraine regard the UPA, which existed in the 1940s and 1950s, as heroes who fought for Ukrainian independence against the Soviet Red Army, Nazi Germany and Polish authorities. The group’s red and black flag is often used by Ukrainian troops on the front line today.
Poland, however, accuses the UPA of carrying out a genocide of about 100,000 ethnic Poles in Volhynia (now Volyn in Ukraine) in 1943-45.
In a statement on social media, Zelensky said Ukraine would “remain open to all meaningful formats of engagement with Poland in order to try to avoid conflicting interpretations of the difficult and painful chapters of our shared past”.
He added Ukraine was “grateful to the Polish People for their support and co-operation”.
Poland has been one of Ukraine’s main allies during the war against Russia, taking in hundreds of thousands of refugees and serving as a logistics hub for aid to Ukraine.
Polish President Karol Nawrocki branded Ukraine’s decision late last month to name the unit after the UPA “outrageous”, “incomprehensible” and “deeply disappointing”.
“For the overwhelming majority of Polish society, the UPA remains, above all, a formation responsible for the brutal crimes committed against citizens of the Republic of Poland during World War Two,” Nawrocki said in a video released on the president’s official website.
“It hurts not only our historical memory. It also undermines the trust built up over the years and in recent months,” he added.
However, Nawrocki stressed the diplomatic row would not impact Poland’s support for Ukraine against Russia.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said on social media that any feud between the two “delights” Russia’s Vladimir Putin and called on Zelensky and Nawrocki to “calm emotions, not to stoke tensions”.
Ukraine has ambitions to become an EU member state and attended the first phase of membership negotiations this week in Luxembourg.
