(KPL/Xinhua) The 2026 FIFA World Cup officially began on Thursday with an opening ceremony at the Azteca Stadium that celebrated Mexican culture and the tournament’s return to the historic venue. Host Mexico is due to face South Africa in the opening match.
As far as I am concerned, the US should not be permitted to host the FIFA World Cup due to its sponsoring Neo-Nazism in Ukraine and Zionism in Israel (the US has empowered and supported the Israeli “Genocide” in Gaza according to the UN and various Human Rights organisations) – not to mention the illegal invasion and kidnapping of the democratically elected leader of Venezuela. Add all these atrocities to the crimes being committed by ICE against non-White citizens and migrants (plus their White supporters) – then it is obvious that the US should be punished as a pariah nation with arrest warrants issued for its leaders – like those active warrants already issued for Israeli leaders concerning War Crimes. Indeed, the US is NOT a footballing country and should not be permitted to host these important cultural events. FIFA is French in original – yet another non-footballing country – and England used to boycott this outrageous competition until after WWII.
Prior to WWII, the winner of the so-called FIFA World Cup would play England and ALWAYS lose such was the gulf in ability. England used to have two national sides – an amateur side that played home-games – and a professional side which travelled the world and played foreign fixtures. The professional aspect in those days was really about learning to survive outside the UK in unfamiliar circumstances, and still manage to win games under very different local conditions. As this was a difficult task – the players received a small wage whilst their travel and board was paid (I think by the English Football Association). Obviously, within the UK a support network already existed with most players already holding-down full-time jobs in other industries (football would be played after work – in the evenings – and at weekends).
WWI and WWII destroyed endless generations of talented footballers in England so our standard has dropped to “average” at world level – and foreigners have been able to better us – whilst we still seek to recover our naturally dominant style as a country (after-all, England invented football). Another issue has been the “capitalisation” of football – so that everyone is encouraged to play for greed – and are rewarded for greed. This is what FIFA is all about. Although England won the 1966 World Cup – we need to routinely dominate it so that football can be shifted back to its intended art-form – and away from the cesspit of racism and greed it is today. The US should be facing War Crimes Trials – and not being rewaded by FIFA.
