Sport Allows Cuba to Shine!

Cuba: Assessing the Cuban Challenge in the “Central American Games” – Wrestling, Boxing & Gold Prospects in an Uncertain World! (12.7.2026)

The bulk of the debate focused on boxing, wrestling, Judo and Taekwondo. In Boxing, with only seven men’s divisions (compared to twelve in golden times) and one women’s division still without the necessary strength, the hosts placed their hopes in names such as Alejandro Claro Fiss from Sancti Spiritus – bronze medallist in two world championships and third in the global ranking – Saidel Orta, Erislandy Álvarez and Julio César La Cruz. However, they warned that the former “flagship boxing” is no longer the same: the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Colombia and Venezuela have grown and will present very competitive squads. The forecast: four golds out of a possible seven would be an excellent performance, although not easy.

Mike Bassett England Manager

UK: When I Watched “Mike Bassett England Manager” with my Dad! (7.7.2026)

My family would travel to my parent’s home in Torquay at various times of the year – and me and my father sat in the darkened front-room of 2 Torbay Road – and howled with laughter at this remarkable English film! My Dad wanted me to see how ordinary people experience life – including pitfalls and disasters – and how they a) deal with it, and b) over-come those problems. The English way also includes a sense of humour. Anyway, my life sorted itself out and afterwards more great things were experienced and achieved. Today, for no reason at all, this film came up on YouTube – perhaps because it has a fictional match between England and Mexico. Today, the England Team is routinely reaching semi-finals and finals – but you never can tell if a return to the old form is on the cards!

UK: Thanking Mexico & England for One of the Greatest Games of Football! (6.7.2026)

We should never lose to the likes of the USA – or Norway – for that matter. I still cannot comprehend how France became a footballing nation – yes – I am that old. I think my recently deceased father is sat somewhere laughing with glee at this wonderful England performance. I keep odd hours and was up by 2am to see the delayed kick-off. It was a match of the ages – a match to end all matches! Until now, one of the best technical matches I have ever seen is the 1970 game between England (the defending world champions) and Brazil (the next world champions) – which England lost 0-1! This mornings match might well rival that match simply because England won! We might as well have won the World Cup – so brilliant was the performance. The Referee was against us – and we were fighting a hostile crowd – all things that professional players are expected to deal with and overcome!

Mexican Media Report Football Lose!

World Cup: Mexico 2 – 3 England – In Praise of the Mexican People & the Sportsmanlike Coverage of the Mexican “La Razon” Media! (6.7.2026)

: I accessed Mexican media on Telegram to see how they covered the defeat of the Mexico National Football Squad 2-3 to England. This must have been upsetting for them – just as every defeat of England is upsetting for the English. Goodness knows – we have lost a lot over the years. This is the first-time England has knocked-out a host country at the World Cup (and one of the few times England has defended a lead). Although the US committed War Crimes in Iran for Israel (and should not be allowed to host the World Cup) – a left-wing Mexico possesses every right to host – and host it – it has. I was surprised to learn that Mexico has never won the World Cup!

UK: BBC Sphincter “Opens” To Devastating Affect! (4.7.2026)

Furthermore, middle-class parents worked in professions where having unofficial and discreet “time-off work” during school hours was fairly normal and expected – a sort of “perk” due to their social position. I know this, as I know live in one of these middle-class areas – where parents are expected to man-mark their children throughout the day and protect them from light, dark, insects, wind, rain, and whatever else might unexpectedly come their way. Nothing must hinder their smooth entry and egress to and from school each day. In other working-class areas – the tradition of being “duffed-up” at break-times or going-home times still prevails. Mexico, as a co-host, and a much more steadier footballing nation (Mexico played in the first FIFA World Cup in 1930 and has hosted or co-hosted the tournament three-times – but has never won it) should see-off England. England is world class at the front – but the English defence is about as reliable as the water-tight doors on the Titanic! Of course, England might surprise us, but either-way, playing an England match at 1am in the morning is ludicrous and disrespectful to the country that founded football and gave the sport to the world. Children staggering into school the next day is just very poor form indeed – but here we all are!

Laos: Mexico “World Cup” Opening Ceremony! (17.6.2026)

The professional aspect in those days was really about learning to survive outside the UK in unfamiliar circumstances, and still manage to win games under very different local conditions. As this was a difficult task – the players received a small wage whilst their travel and board was paid (I think by the English Football Association). Obviously, within the UK a support network already existed with most players already holding-down full-time jobs in other industries (football would be played after work – in the evenings and at weekends). WWI and WWII destroyed endless generations of talented footballers in England so our standard has dropped to “average” at world level – and foreigners have been able to better us – whilst we still seek to recover our naturally dominant style as a country. Another issue has been the “capitalisation” of football so that everyone is encouraged to play for greed – and are rewarded for greed. This is what FIFA is all about. Although England won the 1966 World Cup – we need to routinely dominate it so that football can be shifted back to its intended art-form – and away from the cesspit of racism and greed it is today. The US should be facing War Crimes Trials – and not being rewaded by FIFA.
