As an academic, it is one of my tasks to trawl through the under-belly that is Telegram. As the US-controlled (Western) internet pursues policies that limit and/or prevent freedom of thought and expression, platforms like Telegram (and similar places such as Signal, etc) are points of rendezvous for millions of people who hold opinions deemed unacceptable by the bourgeois powers that be. This explains exactly why the West has gone through so much trouble tricking – and then arresting – the founder of Telegram for refusing the Western Intelligence Services the use of the fabled “back-door” – that reveals the private data of each individual using the platform. Of course, the journey from free expression to no-expression has been more or less seamless. I look back and marvel at the collective naivety practiced by us all some 25-years ago – when we thought that no government or cooperate body could possibly “regulate” all the post-modern freedom(s) the internet offered – as every moment a new freedom sprang-up from the technological depths! How wrong we were – blinded to the possibilities of predatory capitalism – in that pre-pay wall era!
I had been using keyboards (Pitman’s typing) since around ten-years old – as I attended a progressive school in the suburbs of Exeter – where the teachers spoke about “computers” – and how one day we would walk around with no cash in our pockets. We did not understand anything they were talking about – why would we – we all knew a Socialist Revolution was coming and all this bourgeois ideology would be swept into the sea! We would soon be drinking tea on the surface of Mars! As a teen, I even walked around in combat-clothing – so sure was I (along with millions of others) that capitalism was finished (“Citizen Smith” was our favourite BBC sitcom – “Power to the People” – and writing letters of support to the Viet Cong and Ho Chi Minh). For a time, many of us even thought Alexi Sayle was a genuine Marxist-Leninist and that Ben Elton was sincere in his leftism!
How wrong we were about so many things! I recently said that the Labour government of the late 1970s was the last truly leftwing incarnation of that bourgeois entity (as the BBC produced “Secret Army” and “Blake’s 7” during the late 1970s) – and the workers took to the streets to fight for their rights (after previously bringing-down the Tory monster)! Today, this era of worker agitation has the piss taken-out of it by the bourgeois establishment – referring to it derogatively as the “Winter of Discontent”! The workers took on capitalist oppression and fascism and this led to the election of Thatcher – the essence of capitalism and fascism! The reinforcement of the enemies of the workers – is now viewed as being the saviour of the workers! Even so, this Labour Party unleashed a vile attack on many far-left groupings in the UK – particularly the Maoist “Workers’ Institute” led by Comrade Bala (later character assassinated, imprisoned, and finally killed by the Tory State). Labour cannot be trusted regardless of any progressives who might constitute its membership.
Today, I encountered an Arabic-language Telegram Channel purporting to represent the “Fatah” movement of Palestine. This is a Socialist (Marxist-Leninist) movement that seeks to uproot the “religiosity” of Islam in Palestine and replace it with a “secular” society within which all religions are equal – alongside the ability to be both non-theist and atheist – protected by the State. In such a society, the State pursues the path of material science to benefit all the people to the maximum ability. Religion, in such a society, becomes a private matter, a matter of opinion, and nothing more. All the extremes encouraged by out-of-control religionists are removed as the religions concerned have no recourse to political power – or the arms associated with such power. The Fatah-page concerned – expressed this type of thinking, but then associated Hamas (a democratically elected movement) with Iran. As if the religious-Socialism of Iran (where Islam dominates) somehow “forced” the Palestinian people to “vote” for Hamas! I do not agree with religious-led Socialism (despite its preferred nature to that of capitalism) – but neither do I think Iran’s influence extends much beyond the Hezbollah movement in Southern Lebanon.
The problem with primitive religion is that it is self-perpetuating. I have written elsewhere that militant Islam is as problematic for the evolution of humanity as is Zionist Judaism. There is something disturbing and perverse about Israel deliberately killing and maiming children in Gaza – just as is the Palestinian habit of “filming” grief-stricken Gazan parents coming to retrieve the broken and battered body-parts of their dead children – with a call for “money” and “donations” running across a strap-line under the scenes of carnage! Of course, this “Fatah” page criticised the Qatari-controlled “Al Jazeera” for lying and projecting a US narrative onto affairs. I agree with this – Qatar is a reactionary regime that has collaborated with ISIS and Israel. Whilst Al Jazeera routinely publishes anti-China rhetoric straight out of the pages of Washington DC! Al Jazeera routinely supports Turkish-born Uyghur people who have never seen China – falsely stating that they are being oppressed by the Communist Party of China (CPC)! All this is false. When the rightwing Trotskyite George Galloway was employed by a Qatari news outlet – he openly criticised a Black (British) female footballer who dared to complain about the “racist” Qatar being allowed to hold the FIFA World Cup!
One aspect of this supposed Fatah page that I do not support (and the main reason I am not openly sharing the link) is that it routinely refers to Israeli State media for news stories which falsely demonise the Hamas fighters. The author of this page shared false Zionist stories about Hamas fighters “stealing” UN Aid and “selling” it to the starving people. He even shared Zionist news stories showing supposed piles of money, jewellery, and Western-style suggestive underwear purportedly discovered by the IDF when clearly Hamas strongholds. I researched these stories – and every single one is false, racist, and disgustingly Zionist. What UN Aid? Not content with committing genocide in Palestine – the Zionists are starving to death the survivors by not letting UN Aid into the region! I may not personally agree with religiosity – but it is wrong to pretend that starving Islamic women are wearing inappropriate clothing – whilst gathering the type of wealth that Jews are well-known to prefer. I remember reading that when October 7th first occurred (in 2023) – that Fatah fighters did clash with Hamas fighters when the latter traversed through Fatah-controlled territory without permission. The Zionists just stood back and laughed whilst this was happening!
If this Fatah page is legitimate – how far the fruit has fallen from the tree! How is supporting Zionist religiosity any different from supporting Islamicist religiosity? Why support a foreign attempt to steal your land and eradicate your people? How is this logical? It is not. This is not Marxist-Leninist dialectics at work. It seems to me that pages such as this are Zionist-controlled entities disguised to rope-in the unsuspecting and cause derision amongst those who support Palestine. This is how Zionist-fascism works. This is really an extension of how the US Intelligence Agencies function. Take reality, distort it, and then slowly bring the victims round to your way of thinking – predatory capitalism, liberal democracy, and extreme militarism. Be careful when you encounter pages such as this. Always take a step back and consider the situation. Take a breath and look at the situation from many different angles and perspectives. I am getting old now, and have a lifetime of experience to draw upon – but the young must be careful. Discerning correct dialectical trends from false dialectical trends is the entire point of a progressive education. The bourgeois know this and therefore continuously attempt to confuse matters and sully the water. Be careful and pick you way through life in a considered manner. Become leaders and guide others in the correct direction!
