Bravery can take many forms. Sometimes, the bravest amongst us are the least able and the least capable and it falls – as a noble duty – for those of us blessed with relatively sounder strength, to form a “living barrier” with our bodies between the vulnerable and those forces which would do them harm. Both my British grandfathers fought Nazi Germany during WWII (defending the Mainland UK) – whilst our Chinese relatives fought Imperial Japan in Hong Kong and the New Territories. Others fought in Mainland China and elsewhere throughout Asia (including Malaya and Singapore, etc). We are an anti-fascist family created through the “Internationalism” advocated throughout the ideology of Marxist-Leninist-Maoism! What individuals need to know is that the Western bourgeoisie hated Russia before the 1917 Socialist Revolution – and after the 1917 Revolution. The British Establishment (including a Labour Party that had “proscribed” the Communist Party early in its history) hated the USSR right up until the signing of a treaty of alliance in 1941.
Suddenly, the anti-Soviet racism perpetuated by the likes of Winston Churchill had to be quickly transitioned into pro-Soviet rhetoric – with “Red Flags” being manufactured and distributed throughout the duplicitous Unions (many of which had been “Trotskyite” with a vengeance). The Communist Party of Great Britain (CPGB) and the Unions it influenced and controlled – was staunchly Marxist-Leninist-Stalinist in those days – and purposely led the British workers in the right direction of thought and labour (this would change after 1956). British workers raised money for British tanks to be manufactured and sent to the USSR – whilst women sowed and stitched to make cold-weather clothing for the Soviet people! All this progressive activity was strengthened and intensified even during the days of the Nazi German “Blitz” over London (and elsewhere). The British workers withstood an incredible slaughter (in and out of uniform) – but it was understood that whatever we were suffering – the Nazi Germans were inflicting far worse on the Soviet people in what the British government then referred to as a “People’s War”!
When the Soviet Red Army eventually prevailed at Stalingrad in 1942 – there was widespread celebrating amongst the British working-class – less so amongst the Polish emigres living in the UK. The Polish had been fascist between 1930-1939 in full support of Adolf Hitler – but had been shocked by Hitler’s betrayal of his alliance with them – justified (in his eyes) on the grounds that the “Slavic” Polish were mixed with Asians and were therefore not “Aryan” in anyeway. This betrayal did not dent the Polish belief in fascism – even though they were temporarily fighting in military opposition with Hitler at this point – living off the charity of a suffering British people. Even the Polish Army living in the USSR as a form of shelter – continuously agitated against the Soviet System – stating that whilst Soviet Socialism fed them although the Soviet people starved, the Polish did not support Marxist-Leninism, or the fight against Hitler! Indeed, the Polish were duplicitous wherever they went – but we are taught these enigmatic people were our “allies” during WWII. When Churchill allowed 10,000 Ukrainian SS Veterans to settle in Scotland after 1945 (to escape Soviet justice for their war crimes) – the cover story was that they were “Polish” escaping Soviet tyranny.
