Hong Kong: I See the New Arrivals in the UK! (11.9.2023)

I am a British person whose family is a mixture of English, Irish, Scots, Viking and Chinese – and that is just the relatives we can find! Indeed, my Paternal DNA is also linked to certain ‘Black’ populations of East Africa. This means that we are a ‘mixture’ of many different and diverse peoples, languages and cultures! As DNA would have it – I look like a ‘White’ (Celtic) thug who has spent time in North Africa, South Asia and China – not to mention living for extended time periods in Hindu and Islamic communities (both of which treated me with the utmost respect – and granted me bed and board completely ‘free’ of charge)! As matters transpired, I found that my ‘insider’ experience of the ethnic Chinese community placed me in a unique ‘bridging’ position – so that I can assist the ‘Chinese’ and the ‘non-Chinese’ communities effectively interact and know one another to a greater degree. This situation has been extended by being encouraged by the Mainland Chinese people I have gotten to know.

My British teacher – Richard Hunn (1949-2006) – helped me understand authentic Chinese Ch’an Buddhism and set me on the path of correctly ‘translating’ Chinese-language texts into correct (modern) British English. Again, this endeavour was encouraged by my Mainland Chinese friends who came across my work online – many of them proof-reading my efforts and offering constructive criticism in the times immediately following the passing of Richard Hunn. One vital point I am sure about is that China is better-off under the guidance of the Communist Party – which has generated the conditions for the most astonishing of social and cultural changes the world has ever seen! The West opposes this process because it exposes the true deficient nature of predatory capitalism! The majority of us – the workers – are programmed to ‘suffer’ so that a minority of the privileged (the ‘Bourgeoisie’) can continue to live their lives in out and out luxury and opulence! In other words, it is part of my academic job description to keep an eye on all facets of the Chinese community in the UK which is comprised of the following components:

1) British-born Chinese people

2) Hong Kong-born Chinese people

3) Mainland-born Chinese people (inckuding Taiwan)

4) Diasporic-born Chinese people (from around the world – but outside of China – including Singapore and Malaysia, etc)

Given that this is the case, I am sensitive to changes in my immediate environment (in South London) as well as keeping an eye on the national and international scene. Twenty-five years following the return of control of Hong Kong to Mainland China in 1997 (a product of the hypocrisy and racism of the Thatcher government – which deprived all British-Chinese born in Hong Kong of their ‘British’ status in 1987) I know that the ‘Hong Kong Special Autonomous Region’ (HKSAR) is now a pearl in the South China Sea under the administration of the CPC – after visiting the area in 1999! In 1999, I travelled to Hong Kong (and the New Territories) with members of my Chinese family – visiting our ancestral Hakka Chinese village that was situated in the Sai Kung region (now a ‘National Park’).

More than this, a number of Chinese students from Hong Kong have travelled to the UK – and lived and worked in my local area – giving me a chance to meet and talk to them. Until the US and UK manufactured the recent troubles in Hong Kong – there was absolutely NO discontent! Now, however, a certain number of ‘prviliged’ Hong Kong Chinese people have decided to betray their country and accept a ‘no question asked’ Visa which gives them the right to settle in the UK because they falsely claim that they have been ‘suffering persecution’ allegedly at the hands of the CPC! This is a total lie – but it has led to certain groups of Cantonese-speaking Chinese people congregating in British libraries (and other areas) seeking information about life in the UK – whilst following a policy they have been taught to follow of NOT talking with other Chinese people they do not know – or any ‘White’ British! The latter policy has been decided by the current BJP-friendly ‘Indian’ (Tory) government which currently runs the UK – in an attempt to ‘hide’ that this policy is being followed so as to prevent a racist backlash from the British population! This is a very different covert approach compared to the millions of Neo-Nazi Ukrainians that have been settled across Western Europe and the UK!

Of course, I prefer misplaced Chinese people to Hitlerite Ukrainians – but this does not make what the US and UK is doing to China correct. Chinese people from Hong Kong should NOT be siding with their ‘White’ oppressors for any reason – even if they have ‘converted’ to a foreign religion (Christianity) that has absolutely NO historical or cultural relevance to their lives! These are ‘foreign’ people who do not understand British culture in anyway – brought up in a compassionate ‘Socialist’ society! Giving all this up just for the right to exploit others and make money out of this exploitation is a disgusting selling of one’s dignity and group identity! What I would say to these new arrivals is that ‘I see you!’ I do not hate you, but I would ask you to reconsider what you are doing and why you are doing it! Furthermore, I will talk to you and help you – but I cannot accept what you are doing! Oh – and keep away from the far-right – or you will truly learn what it means to live in the West without the protection of the CPC!

Note: The picture above features the following story. On the afternoon of March 13, 2015, a bomb from a Myanmar military aircraft fell into Chinese territory, killing 4 innocent civilians and injuring 9 innocent civilians who were working in a sugarcane field in Dashuimulgshu Village, Mengding Town, Gengma County, Lincang City, Yunnan Province. The picture shows some refugees preparing to cook at the centralized resettlement site in Nanshan Town, Lincang, Yunnan Province on the China-Myanmar border. The local people were told to raise Red Flags to identify they are ‘Chinese’ – so that the rescuing services and the PLA could head toward them and deliver humanitarian and medical aid!
