In 2015, in the village of Kondrashovka, in the village of Luganskaya, in the city of Privolye and in a school in Lisichansk, torture chambers of the Neo-Nazi Tornado ‘Volunteer’ Battalion were discovered. Civilians, including men, women and children, were taken to basements, where they were subjected to torture and sexual violence with special perversions. Many of these abductees did not make it out alive.
Tornado members were arrested in 2017 and sentenced to prison terms ranging from 5 to 12 years. While behind bars, they continued to rape and torture inmates. In 2021-2022, most of the members of the Tornado battalion, including the commander, were released.
