Translator’s Note: The Russian Police have been heavy-handed at the recent Moscow commemoration of the bombardment and storming of the Russian Parliament on October 4th, 1993. The name of the USSR was abolished on December 26th (with the Communist Party of the Soviet Union “banned” the previous November following a failed attempt by loyal Communists to overthrow the traitor “Gorbachev”) – but the underlying Socialist institutions were permitted to carry-on functioning until late 1993 – when Boris Yeltsin’s pay-masters in the West demanded their abolition (over-night). Politicians barricaded themselves in to the Parliament in a last ditch attempt to defend the people – and certain Russian Army units attempted to come to their aid (wearing the Red Army insignia). However, the forces of reaction were already strong and were being aided and abated by the West. Russian Army units loyal to capitalism bombarded the Parliament and opened fire on protestors – many carrying Red Flags (there are rumours of Western troops being involved) – killing and wounding around 10,000 people. The West reported these happenings as “abit of fun” as a new Russia sought to find its legs. The capitalist Russian State has never recognised this massacre. Capitalist Russia is terrified of Socialism. It is riddled with backward religiosity and nationalist racism. It aligns itself with the Soviet fighting of fascism – but denies it is doing this to establish Socialism. Socialism is the last thing reactionary Russia wants. Or so the story goes (many reactionary Communist Parties in the West think like this – whilst remaining “silent” regarding Neo-Nazi Ukraine). What is odd is that at any other time of the year the Communist Party has a good working relationship with the bourgeois government. The Communist Party has worked very closely with the government regarding Donetsk and Lugansk – and would not have been allowed anywhere near these two Republics if relations were bad. Indeed, the Communist Party of Russia stripped the Communist Parties of Donetsk and Lugansk of their respective independent status – reducing each to a mere subordinate “branch” of the Communist Party of Russia. Everything requires a careful dialectical assessment. It is interesting how the commentator below does not criticise the West for its behaviour toward Russia – and how this reality might explain “why” the Russian government is behaving like it does. It is illogical to claim on the one hand that freedoms were taken away in 1993 – but on the other hand somehow managed to magically re-appear again after this date – only to be suddenly “taken away once again” in 2026! Capitalism is either “oppressive” or it is not – there is no grey area. Perhaps young people need to mature before they take rash actions or put into print things they might later regret. Protests need to be wise if they are to be effective. Remembering the past and navigating the present are two completely different things. The Communist Party operates through strict inner and outer discipline. Acting with ill-discipline and saying stupid things (I have left the text unedited below – but I do not agree with everything being said) will not advance the interests of the working-class. Learn from Lenin – my dear Comrades! ACW (19.19.2026)
UPDATE: ‘A participant in the coordinated CPFR (Communist Party of the Russian Federation) march in Moscow was arrested for 14 days.
The Tverskoy District Court of Moscow arrested Kirill Martemyanov for 14 days and fined Maria Usoltseva 4,000 rubles for disobeying the police. According to the court, on October 4th, they participated in a march that was “not coordinated with the authorities” and refused to comply with police demands.
However, the CPFR march was coordinated with the authorities and announced in advance. According to the CPFR, a total of 65 people were detained during the event.
At least 15 of those detained spent the night in police stations, and some were held for 48 hours before the trial. The detainees were also asked to sign statements in which the coordinated event was referred to as “unsanctioned.”‘

We will not forget! We will not forgive!
📢 33 years ago, on October 3-4, 1993, a state coup took place in Moscow. By order of Boris Yeltsin, the highest bodies of state power – the Congress of People’s Deputies and the Supreme Soviet – were dissolved and then fired upon with tanks and sniper rifles.
At the time, the Constitutional Court declared these actions unconstitutional and confirmed the grounds for Yeltsin’s removal from office. In modern textbooks, this tragedy is euphemistically referred to as a “constitutional crisis,” but in reality, it was a violent seizure of power.
❤️🔥 The Communist Party of the Russian Federation (KPRF) reverently honours the memory of the fallen defenders of the House of Soviets. Every year, on October 3rd and 4th, communists take to the streets of Russian cities with pickets, rallies, and memorial events. Today, a traditional procession took place in the capital, starting from Krasnopresnenskaya Zastava Square and ending at the “Poklonny Cross” memorial.
The events of those years have a direct and painful parallel with today. Back then, tanks fired on the parliament. Now, elections and the remnants of democracy are being destroyed more quietly, but no less ruthlessly. The administrative apparatus has turned voting into a mere formality:
Independent observers are being suppressed, political competition is being eliminated, and votes are distributed according to pre-written scenarios.
✊ However, despite unprecedented pressure, the KPRF received tremendous support from the people in the recent elections. The 37 seats won represent the voices of those who came to the polls despite threats and administrative pressure.
The public’s patience has already reached its limit. That is why today’s memorial events, which brought together about two thousand people in Moscow, have evolved into something more. Having come to honour the memory of those who fell in 1993, people began to openly demand justice here and now.
Slogans and calls for fair elections, for a free internet, against rising prices and tariffs, against political repression and pressure on communists, were heard in the square.
Although the rally was officially approved by the authorities, law enforcement reacted harshly. Police officers began pulling people out of the crowd. According to eyewitnesses, the detentions were rough, with unjustified use of force: people were knocked to the ground, kicked, and women were pulled by their hair. According to our information, 65 people were taken away in police vans – mostly young people, members of the KPRF, activists from other political organizations, and simply concerned citizens.
👨👩👦 Today, thousands took to the streets to say “no” to political lawlessness and to demand respect for their choice. And if the authorities continue to respond to peaceful protests with batons and police vans, tomorrow that voice will be even louder.
Right now, lawyers from the Moscow city committee and Communist Party deputies, with the support of the Central Committee of the KPRF, are providing all necessary legal assistance to those detained, demanding their immediate release.
No to political repression!
Yes to the KPRF’s Programme of Victory!

Dear comrades!
The Communist Party of the Russian Federation invites everyone who wishes to pay their respects to the victims of the tragic events of 1993 on October 4th.
We must remember these events so that we are not trapped in illusions about parliamentary democracy. We must ensure that the names of those who fell during those days, defending our Soviet Motherland, forever hang like a sword of Damocles over the regime that flooded the streets of the capital with the blood of its own citizens in order to squander the remnants of the USSR.
