Peru: “Hitler” & “Mussolini” Triumpant in Mayoral Race! (10.10.2026)

Blogger’s Note: It is not uncommon for parents of a certain generation living in South and Cemtral Americas, together with similar groupings in Africa and Asia – to name their children after prominent left-wing leaders who lived during the 20th century. The intention was to inflict upon the child the political fervour extant during the time of his birth (it is almost always “males” involved) in the hope that freedom from Western colonial control would be a) achieved in the life-time of that child, and b) be significantly contributed to by that child, and so on. To this end, there are a number of men in India’s Tamil Nadu (a very politically progressive place) that carry the first name of “Lenin” and “Stalin” affixed to other wise Dravidian (Hindu) surnames (linked to “caste”). Inded, some of these individual have even become active and successful politicians on the left due to this naming. Prior to the rise of the fascist “BJP” a scattering of such named individuals could be found in prominent political roles throughout India – but such an expression of Socialist (Communist) alliances are suppressed today – as India takes the regressive path. Now, on occasion, political allegiance toward the right is also known, with at least one politician in Africa being named “Adolf Hitler Uunona” (retaining his tribal name). A similar situation can be seen with the ongoing veneration for the fascist leader – “Chandra Bose” in India. Many politically illiterate Indians seem to equate this anti-Socialist lunatic with a Brahmanical “Che Guevara” (a name popular in the Latino and Hispanic communities – but for different reasons). Bose, of course, was a staunch ally of Adolf Hitler and Imperial Japan (although Hitler was not keen on Bose’s idea of India’s Independence – stating to him that India needed a longer stint of British rule [possibly a century or more] to bring it firmly into the modern world) and turned a blind-eye to the pogroms of extermination carried-out by the Japanese against various ethnic groups in and around North India (the British and Indian Armies eventually put an end to this mass killing by crushing the Japanese – and Chandra Bose’s fledgling “Indian National Army” – at the Battle of Kohima). Bose would go on to die in a suspicious aeruplane crash in Japanese-controlled “Formosa” (Taiwan) whilst attempting to flee to Japan in 1945. Of course, as the Catholic Church has an ongoing policy of supporting the political far-right (see Neo-Nazi Ukraine), this has manifested in many Central and South American countries (loyal to the Vatican) possessing priests who agitated on behalf of the fascists and Nazis – actively encouraging parents to name their children after prominent friends of the Catholic Church. In the case of the gentleman featured below – Hitler Mussolini Simeon Flores – this person appears to have received “both barrels” in this regard – despite not being right-wing. ACW (10.10.2026)

Peruvian voters pick their new mayor, despite his unusual name.

Voters in the Peruvian town of Queropalca have chosen their new mayor: Hitler Mussolini Simeon Flores.

The unusually named candidate for the centre-left Ahora Nación party won 34% of the vote. According to local media, the top three candidates were separated by just 42 votes.

Simeon’s candidate application form gives few details (and none about his name), apart from the fact that he manages the Simeon Sac Investment Group.

There have been other politicians called Hitler. In 2018, also in Peru, Hitler beat Lenin in another mayoral race for the district of Yúngar, when Hitler Guesclin Alba Sánchez defeated Lenin Vladimir Rodríguez Valverde.

“I’m the good Hitler,” Alba told broadcasters on the campaign trail, local media reported.

In Namibia, Adolf Hitler Uunona last year won his fifth local election in a row. “As a child I saw it as a totally normal name,” he told the BBC.
