Blogger’s Note: The UK government is wedded to a US-EU policy of “privatising” all healthcare and replacing it with a US system (which sees only the rich gaining access to full or adequate medical cover). The US has formulated all the various incarnations of the EU since 1945 – with its primary task of eradicating Socialism in Europe and extending US culture (on all levels) in its place. Since the collapse of the USSR in 1991, this project has intensified in vigour. Unions have been legally disempowered, and welfare systems dismantled – leading to intense poverty and workers with no rights. To be clear – ALL mainstream political parties (and the fringe far-right versions) – are all wedded to this attack upon the working-class (mass immigration is part of this attack – as it ensures the maintenance of cheap labour and the corroding of workers’ rights). Now, as the NHS collapses, patient care is at an all-time low – so how bad must “private” healthcare be in the UK if its failing institutions are being handed-over to the NHS due to “safety concerns”? The ill, the young, and the elderly are being treated terribly because of the pro-US policies being pursued by the UK Establishment and it makes you wonder what was the point of fighting and winning WWII against German fascism – when US fascism is allowed into the UK via the back-door! It does not matter who we vote for – as there is an agreement (behind the scenes) between all parties to continue the policy regardless of who is in power! Getting out the EU was only half the battle – but the bourgeoisie prevented the election of the far-left government the UK so desperately needed under Jeremy Corbyn (to shut the borders and re-empower the Unions and the workers) – and here we are in this post-Covid mess! An NHS trust will take over the care of hundreds of patients being treated by a mental health provider that is under investigation by police and the Charity Commission.
The development comes after NHS England ordered the removal of all 287 inpatients from a hospital run by St Andrew’s Healthcare in Northampton over safety concerns earlier this year.
An inquiry was opened in June into safeguarding and financial concerns at the hospital.
Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust will take over patient care from mid-September, subject to commercial arrangements.
The Charity Commission had previously opened a compliance case into the provider, which was then escalated due to “ongoing concerns”.
The charity, which was registered in 2004, first came to the commission’s attention in August last year after it submitted a serious incident report concerning potential mistreatment of patients, which it had referred to Northamptonshire Police for investigation.
St Andrew’s Healthcare and NHS England would “work closely” to ensure the transition is managed carefully for staff and patients, the healthcare trust said.
As part of the agreement, some of the buildings at the site will be leased to the trust.
Trevor Torrington, chief executive of St Andrew’s Healthcare, said patients were the “top priority”.
Angela Hillery, chief executive of trust, said: “We recognise the importance of these highly specialist services and the responsibility that comes with this agreement.”
What happened at St Andrew’s?
The decision to withdraw patients from St Andrew’s followed enforcement action taken against the hospital, announced in December.
In March, NHS England said “we still do not have adequate assurance that patient safety is improving at the rate it needs to and our concerns about patient safety remain”.
It added: “We therefore must act now to ensure patients receive the care and treatment they deserve.”
It added that “unacceptable issues” had been identified at the hospital.
A report by the Care Quality Commission described how its inspectors saw CCTV footage of staff kicking and hitting a patient during a restraint as their colleagues watched on.
