One student said ‘Socialism’s obsession with “peace” will be its undoing!’ another said ‘Socialism’s obsession with enlightened behaviour could will see its end!’ Why are some people thinking this in the light of the US terrorism inflicted on Venezuela? Well, the capitalists are past-masters at making “war” – and preparing the “conditions” that justify and sustain war. War is good for business as it instantly creates full employment and maximum industrial output – whilst guaranteeing that the population will drop due to a high casualty rate.
Moreover, as each war ends – a “boom” is the result as there are more jobs in existence than people to fill them. For a time, there is out and out growth and a pleasant movement of the work-force across international boundaries. Strife is at its lowest ebb as there is plenty to go around. When these conditions change, when jobs and available people equal one another in number, and then available people far exceed available jobs – then there is the inevitable “bust”. This is the part of the cycle we are in now and the capitalists see no other way out than a major world war – perhaps with Russia and China.
The capitalists need to engineer the conditions that kill the high millions yet again – and then separate both competing sides into the “good” verses “evil” dichotomy for the inevitable religious and historical after-birth. Consistency is not an issue – as the bourgeois (like any good magician) can make belligerents disappear or change sides (the USSR was once the darling of the moment – and then nothing more than an extension of Hitler). Economic miracles are nothing of the sort – but merely successfully channelled greed in a ruthless material world of competing needs. The capitalist world must also destroy and prevent any spread of Socialism, as Socialism will remove the boom and bust conditions the capitalists favour – and which empowers the 10% of the privileged bourgeoisie that run society.
The last thing the capitalists want is a sudden re-distribution of wealth and the immediate relieving of the desperation that leads to war (such as the cancellation of debt). The US rapes and kills its way across the globe – whilst Cuba and Venezuela try to survive in a brutal capitalistic sea of murderous intent and exploitative action. Socialism will not fight back simply because – on the material level – it lacks the material ability to counter the congealed greed of the US system as expressed in advanced warfare technology. The capitalist must keep Socialism poor and disadvantaged so that it cannot growth and develop. Whereas Zionist Israel can possess nuclear weapons – a Socialist Iran cannot, and so on. Paradox and injustice is exactly how the bourgeoise seeks to control, check, and diminish Socialism. A much more brutal way is to order the execution of elected Socialist officials – so that the footage can be screened during prime-time across the Western world whilst most people are celebrating the Xmas holiday (as happened in Romania in 1989). In the UK, school-children were shown this brutal attack upon the working-class – as a form of inoculation against Socialism (as the anti-intellectual output of Orwell was becoming a little jaded in this area).
Pursuing “peace” is the only option the Socialist countries possess – as they do not want to walk into the trap of creating a world-war they cannot win – and which will only benefit the US. The material conditions are not yet right for a military defeat to be inflicted on the US. Indeed, keeping the Socialist countries weak whilst continuously building its own arsenal is precisely what the capitalists must do. The bourgeoise must ruthlessly exploit the purest of materialist science to manufacture its war technology – whilst simultaneously propagating religious (and woolly) thinking throughout the masses to prevent a rebellion amongst its own workers (thus stopping a spontaneous outburst of homegrown Socialism). War is good for greed-based businesses – whilst Socialism is not – Socialism is only good for widespread justice, peace, security, and collective affluence. It is fascinating to witness the established religions side with the bourgeois forces of war by claiming such activity is the only way of guaranteeing “peace” amongst humanity. If only Socialism would stop agitating by promising the workers freedom and breed – or so the cloistered halls echo in unison – then the capitalist could rule unopposed. War, of course, will always exist just as long as capitalism and religion does – as both seek its agency to expand influence, gain power, and amass wealth. Only Socialism possesses the ability to burst this bubble of class-privilege. Men built it – men can destroy it.
