Author’s Note: Writers are very good at being both “honest” and “dishonest” in equal measure. No genuine writer will disagree with me – but will instead knowingly puff on their pipe whilst inspecting a duck – or something similar (the mundane is lifted-up by a competent writer). Am I being too harsh on Mr Teems – of course. Yes – I am – and for good class-related reasons. The bourgeois already possess control over the means of production – what more do they want? We are left a) with our “words”, and b) the use of those “words”. My words must penetrate straight through the ideological heart of the matter and I feel that the author’s use of Soviet-era exiles is indicative of his world-view and political bias. My Audible Review:
David Teems – Tyndale: The Man Who Gave God an English Voice (2012)
‘If you do not care for ideological integrity – but merely clever phraseology and the regurgitating of well established facts – then this tome is for you. William Tyndale was of the middling orders (living within an aristocracy) led by an absolute monarch (Henry VIII) – and a tyrant in Rome (the Pope). Indeed, a good case can be made that in his quest to enlighten the masses – Tyndale ended up the victim of both. However, the author chooses to compare Tyndale’s exile with two individuals residing in Socislist States – who refused to support the same masses – during the Soviet-era (they continuously agitated in favour of oppressive religion and capitalist exploitation) – both of whom were exiled for their efforts to live opulent lives in the West. This is a false dichotomy – as the two situations (Tyndale and traitorous workers) dialectically contradict one another. Tyndale (like Socislist policy) seeks to empower the masses. The author, by way of contrast, could have used the example of Charlie Chaplain who was expelled from the US for being leftwing – whilst the US State “stole” $20 million of his earnings. Indeed, there are many such similar outrages occurring in the US today. William Tyndale died so that we can think for ourselves – so honour him by thinking for yourself. Be careful what pollutant you passively permit to permeate your mind as many authors possess nefarious objectives hidden amongst their words.’
