Author’s Note: I suppose I must have got involved in this project at some point during 2011. Gerrard Williams spoke to me like an old friend – but we did not know one another and are from completely different backgrounds. He was unhappy about many aspects of the news coverage and academic assumptions regarding Hitler. He thought that the idea of Martin Bormann’s body being randomly “discovered” during routine road-works in Berlin during the 1970s – to be plainly absurd (I must admit that such an occurrence is highly “convenient”). He mentioned many other things – but never once expressed any political leanings to the right (a very different story to that of my encountering of David Irving – a renowned fascist). There is also the issue of Joseph Stalin apparently stating that Hitler had “probably escaped” when asked about the subject. At the time, the NKVD had recovered burnt body-parts at a time when the science was not yet available to prove beyond all doubt that Hitler was dead (I believe his remains have been identified via a dental-bridge). Hitler was afraid that if his body was to remain intact – the Soviets would place him in Lenin’s Mausoleum for all to gawk at as they shuffled through! As I explain below, a forensic expert was of the opinion that the above photograph is NOT Hitler. On the strength of this, and taking into account a number of other peripheral issues, Gerrard and his research colleagues formulated the idea that the real Hitler “was no longer present” in the Bunker – and that the fake Hitler might well have taken his own life in his defence (as a cover to allow the real Hitler time to escape). The Soviet version was unconvincing because they could not be sure. On top of this, the Cold War mentality of the West declared the USSR and Nazi Germany to be exactly the same – despite the former being our ally and the latter our mortal enemy. This was at a time that Churchill brought 10,000 Ukrainian SS War Criminals to the UK to escape Soviet Justice – and Canada would eventually raise a monument to these Nazi-collaborators in a War Cemetery for Canadians who had died during Dieppe and D-Day! Meanwhile, the Catholic Church assisted thousands of fascist and Nazi War Criminals to flee to “safe” Catholic countries in Central and South America. Many Nazi War Criminals DID escape – and it is well-known that they did. Moreover, the US absolved a number of these individuals and used them to work for NASA and NATO! I found it interesting at the time how angry and adamant many people became when it was suggested Hitler might had survived the war! Oddly, a good proportion did appear to be right-wing! It seemed very important for their contemporary plans that Hitler remains dead and buried in the past! Anyway, the photograph is the only part of my interaction I can find at the moment – so here it is. I think I came across Gerrard Williams as a BBC news correspondent on Facebook around 2011. I was interested in his book “Grey Wolf” – which stated that Adolf Hitler survived WWII and fled to Argentina where he lived-out his life until his death in 1962. Part of my Doctorate and post-Doctorate studies evolve around why it is that various individuals believe certain things (“Spiritual Metaphysics”). I read the book and found it flat and uninspiring considering its supposed earth-shattering implications. I then watched the film adaptation of the book and found this to be ewuivalent of being given a sedative – so boring and wooden was the acting and script. All in all a poor show. Gerrard Williams exchanged emails with me for probably about a year. He definitely “believed” his theory to be correct. Of course, there are many odd and strange events surrounding the end of WWII and the death of Hitler. For instance, the Soviets had no idea Hitler was still in Berlin – and we can assess this to be likely as it was a group of lightly-armed military Red Army Nurses who first fought their way into the Reich Chancellery Garden – where Hitler’s remains were still smouldering. A target of such importance would not have been assigned to kind-hearted young women attempting to find and treat the wounded of both sides. No – Hitler had caused so much misery – a highly trained NKVD Unit would have been assigned this task – exercising the appropriate brutality to the troops guarding Hitler (many of whom were “non-German”).
Gerrard Williams was a kind and gentile, middle-class British man who had worked as a Journalist all his life. I had hesrd of him, and was surprised that he chose to carry-on an email exchange with me (he would have met me if I had been available). The email address I was using at that time suffered a fatal collapse around 2012 and I lost reams of important emails. Although Gerrard Williams passed away in 2022 – I presume his estate would have copies should they be so disposed to seek them out. However, when I asked what evidence he possessed to “prove” his idea – he stated that a well-known British academic (who worked as a Forensic Consultant with the British Police) had assessed a photograph of Adolf Hitler and minutely compared it with photographs confirmed to be “Hitler”. His opinion was that the photograph being assessed was “NOT” Adolf Hitler – but rather that of an imposter. Gerrard Williams even gave me the email address of the academic concerned – and I contacted him. Indeed, this “expert” (I cannot recall his name) confirmed Gerrard’s story. He said he did not believe Hitler survived WWII – but the man in the photograph in question is “NOT” Adolf Hitler – in his professional opinion. Of course, just as Winston Churchill possessed “doubles” whose job was to impersonate him even at the pain of death – Hitler is believed to have used a similar deception. In fact, such a precaution was not uncommon in the world of politics.
It just so happens that I have the photograph in question and am sharung it above. The “expert” said the ears are a different shape and sit in different positions to those of Adolf Hitler. Most people would not perceive these very slight and subtle differences when meeting these charismatic figures in real life. Yes – around 80% to 90% were very well “copied” – but the ears and eyes are very difficult alter into a precise alignment – at least that was the case in 1945. I believe the Soviets discovered Hitler’s dead body – and that of one of his doubles – during April-May 1945. The footage and photographs are available with a number of testimonies agreeing that Hitler shot himself in his Bunker as the Red Army moved into Berlin apparently obvlious to hids presence. Gerrard said that he thought that there was a secret passage from Hitler’s inner-room in the Bunker, which took Hitler to a boat that could move through the sewyers under the rubble-covered roads. Somehow, according to this version of events, Hitler eventually made it to a Port, and from there onto a German U-Boat set for Argentina. It is not that the Catholic Church did not help thousands of Nazi Germans escape – it is just that Hitler was not one of them. Weirdly, when I wrote reviews or posts sharing my research – my work would attract a maniacal reaction – as if people were afraid of knowledge or its implications!
