Media Office of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine in Lebanon
The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine strongly condemns the use of the United States of America’s veto power against a Draft Resolution submitted by Algeria on behalf of the Arab Group, to grant Palestine full membership of the United Nations – despite 12 countries voting on the draft resolution – and stresses that it constitutes a reward for the Occupation and encourages it! The US is encouraging the Israeli “Genocidal War” and the scorched earth policy against the Palestinian people. It is not surprising that America uses its veto power in any decision related to the rights of the Palestinian people and affects the Zionist entity, even if the decision to grant Palestine full member in the United Nations would be a symbolic step, due to the lack of the necessary elements. This State is on the ground by virtue of the Occupation’s control.
This veto confirms the futility of betting on the American role, which requires considering the United States a hostile State – and a partner to the Zionist Occupation and its aggression and crimes against our people and the peoples of the region – considering it a rogue entity that does not give weight to International Law or the United Nations Charter.
This decision comes as a continuation of the American Administration’s policy of support for the Zionist Occupation and its ongoing aggression. The world has become accustomed to such positions hostile to the United Nations and its Charter. The name of the United States is associated with terrorism and evil in the world and with these disgraceful and biased positions. This constitutes a blow to all of humanity, and a blatant assault on International Will!
This condemnable American decision confirms the futility of any political steps that are not based on strength on the ground. The policy of begging and relying on the role of the American Administration, and not exerting real pressure on it, encouraged it to continue its approach and positions hostile to the rights of the Palestinian people.
The Palestinian Authority missed many opportunities to possess power cards, squandered the achievements and sacrifices of our people, and ignored all the data that had accumulated on the international scene as a result of its pursuit of humiliating American sponsorship, and continued its absurd approach for many years, which reinforced the Occupation of the land and the policies of Judaization and Settlement.
The Front calls on the countries of the world that stand by the Palestinian people to unite their efforts in continuing to press for fundamental Amendments to the United Nations laws, which guarantee that no country will use its veto to obstruct any decisions that affect the rights of any country struggling for its freedom and defeating the Occupation.
The Popular Front calls on all of humanity and the free people of the world to raise their voices loudly, to condemn the biased American positions, and to press for the trial of the leaders of the American Administration as war criminals, because of their continued commitment of crimes against humanity and their continued sponsorship and support of the Zionist “Genocidal Crimes” against the Palestinian people and the peoples of the world.

الجبهة الشعبية تدين بشدة الفيتو الأمريكي وتؤكد أنه يُشكل اعتداءً سافرًا على الإرادة الدولية والبشرية جمعاء

تدين الجبهة الشعبية لتحرير فلسطين بشدة استخدام الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية حق النقض “الفيتو” ضد مشروع قرار قَدمتّه الجزائر نيابةً عن المجموعة العربية، لمنح فلسطين العضوية الكاملة في الأمم المتحدة، بالرغم من تصويت 12 دولة على مشروع القرار، وتؤكد أنه يُشكّل مكافأة للاحتلال، ويشجعه على الاستمرار في احتلاله ومواصلة حرب الإبادة الجماعية وسياسة الأرض المحروقة ضد شعبنا، وليس غريبًا أن تستخدم أمريكا حق النقض الفيتو في أي قرار يتعلق بحقوق الشعب الفلسطيني ويمس الكيان الصهيوني حتى لو أن قرار منح فلسطين عضوًا كاملًا في الأمم المتحدة سيكون خطوة رمزية، بسبب عدم وجود مقومات لهذه الدولة على الأرض بحكم سيطرة الاحتلال.
هذا الفيتو يؤكد عقم المراهنة على الدور الأمريكي، وهو ما يتطلب اعتبار الولايات المتحدة دولة معادية وشريكة للاحتلال الصهيوني في العدوان والجرائم ضد شعبنا وشعوب المنطقة، واعتبارها كيانًا مارقًا لا يقيم وزنًا للقانون الدولي أو ميثاق الأمم المتحدة.
يأتي هذا القرار استمرارًا لسياسة الإدارة الأمريكية الداعمة والمساندة للاحتلال الصهيوني وعدوانه المتواصل، فقد اعتاد العالم على مثل هذه المواقف المعادية للأمم المتحدة وميثاقها، فاسم الولايات المتحدة مقرون بالإرهاب والشر في العالم وبتلك المواقف المشينة والمنحازة، وهذا يُشكّل ضربةً للإنسانية جمعاء، واعتداءً سافرًا على الإرادة الدولية.
هذا القرار الأمريكي المدان يؤكد عقم أي خطوات سياسية لا تستند إلى أوراق قوة على الأرض؛ فسياسة الاستجداء والتعويل على دور الإدارة الأمريكية، وعدم ممارسة ضغط حقيقي عليها شجعها على مواصلة نهجها ومواقفها المعادية لحقوق الشعب الفلسطيني.
السلطة الفلسطينية أضاعت الكثير من فرص امتلاك أوراق قوة، وبددت منجزات وتضحيات شعبنا، وتجاهلت كل المعطيات التي تراكمت على الساحة الدولية بفعل لهاثها وراء الرعاية الأمريكية المذلة، واستمرت بنهجها العبثي لسنواتٍ طويلة الأمر الذي عزز من الاحتلال للأرض وسياسات التهويد والاستيطان.
تدعو الجبهة دول العالم التي تقف إلى جانب الشعب الفلسطيني لتوحيد جهدها في مواصلة الضغط من أجل إجراء تعديلات جوهرية في قوانين الأمم المتحدة، التي تضمن عدم استخدام أي دولة حق النقض “الفيتو” لتعطيل أي قرارات تمس حقوق أي دولة تناضل من أجل حريتها ودحر الاحتلال عنها.
وتدعو الجبهة الشعبية البشرية جمعاء وأحرار العالم لرفع صوتهم عاليًا، لإدانة المواقف الامريكية المنحازة، وللضغط من أجل محاكمة قادة الإدارة الأمريكية كمجرمي حرب، بسبب استمرارهم في ارتكاب جرائم ضد الإنسانية ومواصلة رعاية ودعم جرائم الإبادة الصهيونية بحق الشعب الفلسطيني وشعوب العالم.
