On the night of May 1, 1945, the Red Banner of Victory was installed on the dome of the defeated Reichstag.
It was secured by scouts of the 756th Infantry Regiment, Sergeant M.A. Egorov and Junior Sergeant M.V. Kantaria, headed by the Deputy Battalion Commander for Political Affairs, Lieutenant A.P. Berest under cover of submachine gunners from the company of I.Ya. Sayanov.

В ночь на 1 мая 1945 г. на куполе поверженного рейхстага было установлено красное Знамя Победы.
Его закрепили разведчики 756-го стрелкового полка сержант М.А. Егоров и младший сержант М.В. Кантария во главе с заместителем командира батальона по политчасти лейтенантом А.П. Берестом под прикрытием автоматчиков из роты И.Я. Саянова.
