This Saturday, January 3rd, at 1:57 am, as part of the criminal and multidimensional attacks perpetrated by the United States government against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, the facilities of the Mathematics Centre of the Venezuelan Institute of Scientific Research (IVIC), a vital scientific and academic space of our National University of Sciences Dr. Humberto Fernández-Morán, were completely destroyed.
The attack was total: these areas housed servers and essential equipment for our computer networks that were completely devastated.
Two missiles directly impacted the area, leaving fragments that demonstrate the imperial hatred against Venezuela’s sovereign technological development.
In addition to the completely destroyed Mathematics Center, four more research centres of our Institute were affected:
✔️ Physics Centre.
✔️ Chemistry Centre.
✔️ Ecology Centre.
✔️ Nuclear Technology Unit.
These spaces, today devastated by the bombing, have been fundamental in training the professionals who sustain our health, engineering, and oil sovereignty.
This is an unprecedented act of imperial aggression against the people of Venezuela, in which the civilian and scientific infrastructure of our homeland has been attacked.
There is no justification for attacking a sanctuary of science, a place that has provided historical responses to the country and the world.
We denounce that this escalation of war has not only hit our laboratories, but has gone as far as the kidnapping of our Constitutional President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, and the First Combatant, Dr. Cilia Flores, in a desperate attempt to break the nation’s will.
We express our absolute rejection of this violence and pay the deepest tribute to our martyrs who fell in this military aggression, heroes whom we honour today with our commitment to fight.
The sense of belonging to our IVIC is unshakable. This institute has been a temple for the country’s development and we will not allow it to be silenced. I convey the indignation of our entire scientific community; our institutions are sacred.
With the strength of our martyrs, the unity of the people, and the guidance of the Acting President, Delcy Rodríguez, we will immediately begin the reconstruction of these spaces. IVIC will continue to be an epicentre for the generation of new knowledge and the scientific culture of our homeland.

Este sábado 3 de enero a la 1:57 de la madrugada, como parte de los ataques criminales y multidimensionales perpetrados por el gobierno de los Estados Unidos contra la República Bolivariana de Venezuela, dejaron totalmente destruidas las instalaciones del Centro de Matemática del Instituto Venezolano de Investigaciones Científicas (IVIC), espacio científico y académico vital de nuestra Universidad Nacional de las Ciencias Dr. Humberto Fernández-Morán.
El ataque ha sido total: estas zonas albergaban servidores y equipos esenciales para nuestras redes computacionales que fueron completamente devastados.
Dos misiles impactaron directamente en el área, dejando fragmentos que evidencian el odio imperial contra el desarrollo tecnológico soberano de Venezuela.
Además del Centro de Matemáticas totalmente destruido, cuatros centros más de investigación de nuestro Instituto fueron afectados:
✔️ Centro de Física.
✔️ Centro de Química.
✔️ Centro de Ecología.
✔️ Unidad de Tecnología Nuclear.
Estos espacios, hoy devastados por el bombardeo, han sido fundamentales para formar a los profesionales que sostienen nuestra salud, ingeniería y soberanía petrolera.
Es un acto de agresión imperial sin precedentes contra el pueblo de Venezuela, en la que se ha atacado la infraestructura civil y científica de nuestra Patria.
No existe justificación alguna para agredir un santuario de la ciencia, un recinto que ha dado respuestas históricas al país y al mundo.
Denunciamos que esta escalada de guerra no solo ha golpeado nuestros laboratorios, sino que ha llegado al extremo del secuestro de nuestro Presidente Constitucional de la República Bolivariana de Venezuela Nicolás Maduro Moros y de la Primera Combatiente Dra. Cilia Flores, en un intento desesperado por quebrar la voluntad de la nación.
Expresamos nuestro rechazo absoluto a esta violencia y rendimos el más profundo reconocimiento a nuestros mártires caídos en esta agresión militar, héroes que hoy honramos con nuestro compromiso de lucha.
El sentimiento de pertenencia hacia nuestro IVIC es inquebrantable. Este instituto ha sido un templo para el desarrollo del país y no permitiremos que sea silenciado. Transmito la indignación de toda nuestra comunidad científica; nuestras instituciones son sagradas.
Con la fuerza de nuestros mártires, la unión del pueblo y con la instrucción de la Presidenta Encargada Delcy Rodríguez, iniciaremos la reconstrucción de estos espacios de manera inmediata. El IVIC seguirá siendo un epicentro para la generación de nuevos conocimientos y la cultura científica de la Patria.
