The Olde Sweet Shoppe - Kingston-Upon-Thames - Londn!

Kingston: Xmas Joy – Gee’s Birthday & Big Game – All on the High Street! (6.12.2025)

It was Gee’s birthday yesterday – so we decided to take a family outing to the nearby city of Kingston-Upon-Thames – a vibrant and diverse city about half an hour’s drive away from Sutton (via New Malden). We used to visit this place all the time before having children – and the children have been to Kingston but not that many times since the Covid-19 lock-down. Usually there are plenty of Xmas lights – particularly in the shopping centres. The girls liked the experience of shopping in a real-life HMV shop – as there are not many left nowadays.

Of course, George Orwell’s “Trotskyite” (rubbish) books were on display – poorly written trash designed to “groom” (or “inoculate”) the younger generations against legitimate “Socialism” – through which he is allowed to equate with “fascism” (the old “”Stalin” equals “Hitler” anti-intellectualism). Remember, during the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939) Orwell joined a Trotskyite-Anarchist Militia set on undermining the Socialist Cause! In his younger days, Orwell was a British Imperial Police Officer in Burma – whose job was to beat the local population into submission:

I told Mei-An that on Saturday mornings, record shops were my generation’s search-engine – as we sought to establish our own personalities and find out who we really are through the choices we made and the associations we made. This is as about as “free” as we can get in a capitalist system – where spending our parent’s money purchased “identity” and “growth”. In those days (the early 1980s) the British State would give all 16 years olds weekly money to live-on, money for rent, a place to live, and free education. The British System then was a soft capitalism mixed with a Soviet-style Socialism. Life was better and we possessed a greater potential for “freedom” and “development”.

The greedy amongst us could still exercise “individualism” – whilst the workers sought a collective path to inner and outer freedom. Oh, how lucky we were! We all thought a Socialist Revolution was just around the corner and the UK would become a Soviet State!

Then, the ogre of Thatcherism hove into view and hit us hard – and the workers lost all the hard-earned gains made with our blood toil before and during WWIi! Our children listen and ingest this deep meaning. Today, the Olde Sweet Shoppe is owned by an Asian family – but the male owner treated me with respect – and in so doing – he earned my respect. As an Englishman, I thanked him for treating my family with respect and politeness. Unlike the fascist, I don’t particularly care about who takes my money and processes my order. I wamt to transform the process away from exploitation – and not harm those who are active within it. There are many “White” English who are as ignorant as sh’t out there! They do not get a Free Pass from me just because they happen to have been born “English”. English people should behave to a higher standard – not lower.
