Royal Army Veternary Corps

Surrey: Royal Army Veterinary Corps (RAVC) – Horse Ambulance (Mark II – Converted Bullock-Cart)! (29.5.2026)

When horses were hurt (and not automatically shot) they were transported in the type of conveyance pictured above – but I think this might have been rare (new horses were acquired quicker than wounded horses could heal). At the end of WWI, many thousands of conscripted horses were gathered on the beaches of France – after serving the UK loyally (even participating in cavalry charges against machine-guns) – and instead of being shipped back to England and discharged to their owners, the UK government (probably Churchill) ordered them “shot”. The bullet was cheaper than the shipping and compensation owned. Of course, although some horses were used in WWII (1939-1945) – technology had improved dramatically and horses were not required as they were two-decades previously. From a compassionate perspective it would be good to think that all British horses had access to above level of care – but reality is not built upon fairy-tales. Only the lucky few (probably the horses of high-up Officers) were subject to this kind of care. This British Army Ambulance appears to have the battle honour of “Normandy”!

On Retreat for A Week!

Tilford: A “Red-Week” in a Country Retreat! (22.5.2026)

It is a quaint area free off the stresses of the city – and a big sign reads “No Flags on the Exterior of the Building” – so in-doors it is! Even rebelling must be measured and inaccordance with circumstances. There is a nearby river and families of ducks wandering around. My Taijiquan practice will be particularly enhanced in this environment. Thank you to my mother – Diane Wyles! Gee has just driven to the next village to purchase some chips for our supper! We have basically infiltrated the conservative rump of the Home Counties. We are the enemy within – and the Reds Under the Beds – except we have paid to also lie in these beds. The capitalist railroaders are happy – so we let them continue to think that way.

UK: Weird News from England – Pony & Trap Riding “Banned” on 2 Buckinghamshire A-Roads! (27.4.2026)

Pony and trap racing is a form of informal racing where a rider sits in a lightweight cart pulled by a pony or horse, typically travelling at speed along roads rather than regulated tracks. Residents have repeatedly complained that the informal races cause long tailbacks, sudden braking and near misses.

Earlier this month, Thames Valley Police was called to the A413 following reports of racing near Chalfont St Peter. Matthew Barber the Thames Valley Police and Crime Commissioner said: “The local community in South Buckinghamshire have suffered from disruption for pony and trap racing on the A413 for many years.

“Yet many people do not realise that racing horses on the highway is not illegal. Racing motor vehicles is prohibited by the Road Traffic Act 1988, and cycle races are regulated, but racing horses is not.

“Nevertheless the racing has often lead to disruption to traffic, antisocial behaviour, and intimidation to local residents.”

China: The Origins of Complex Life Pushed Back to Before the Cambrian! (6.4.2026)

Associate Professor Fan Wei, a leader of the group, says, “After years of fieldwork, we finally found several sites with the right conditions where animal fossils are preserved together with abundant algae.”

Unlike most Ediacaran sites, where organisms are preserved as impressions in sandstone, the Jianchuan fossils are preserved as thin carbon-rich films. This is type of preservation is more typical of famous Cambrian sites such as the Burgess Shale in Canada.

This exceptional preservation reveals anatomical details rarely seen in Ediacaran fossils, including feeding structures, digestive systems and organs used for movement.

Associate Professor Ross Anderson, a co-author of the study from the Oxford Universities Museum of Natural History, says, “Our results indicate that the apparent absence of these complex animal groups from other Ediacaran sites may reflect differences in preservation rather than true biological absence.”

“Carbonaceous compressions like those at Jiangchuan are rare in rocks of this age, meaning that similar communities may simply not have been preserved elsewhere.”

Shroud of Turin: Latest “Science” Continues to Prove Cloth Not “Supernatural”! (2.4.2026)

Even the Catholic Church declared the Shroud of Turin “Fake” in the Middle Ages – but the modern Vatican likes to play the guessing-game in a dishonest attempt to convince rationally thinking people that the sky-spirit it a) generates and b) venerates – is objectively “real”. What else would you expect from an institution that openly and surreptitiously supports fascism and Nazism, etc? Indeed, the Catholic Church has spent far more of its resources on safely relocating Nazi German War Criminals “out of Europe” – than it has proving the Shroud to be literally real – this fact alone demonstrates the priorities of the Vatican. What does the latest “scientific” research tell us about Jesus? Fasten your seat-belts – it’s going to be an exhilarating ride. To date, the Church can confidently confirm the following about Jesus – the “Christ”.

Italy: Relics of St Francis of Asisi – Placed on Display! (23.2.2026)

The story of the tomb of St. Francis, hidden for centuries beneath the main altar, lends an almost mystical undertone to this new era. After his death in 1226, the body was carefully hidden to avoid theft or desecration. It was only discovered in 1818, after a long search, and since then, several verifications have been carried out — most recently in 2015 –, which confirmed the authenticity and good state of preservation of the relics. Those bones, marked by the suffering and wounds of the Crucified One, are the physical echo of a life spent for love. The Basilica of St. Francis will become, during that month, the spiritual heart of the world. A massive influx of pilgrims from all Continents is expected. To guarantee a serene and prayerful experience, a free and mandatory reservation system has been established through the website http://www.sanfrancescovive.org, which is available in several languages.
