The Marxist-Leninist movement – and all its off-shoots – often make use of educational posters that inhabit the public space. The point of this is to propagate the non-inverted mind-set so that the inverted perception that underlies the bourgeoisie is rectfied and the framework that supports predatory capitalism can no longer exist. Even the illiterate can understand the posters providing they are not visually-impaired. If the workers are visually-impaired – then fully-sighted comrades can describe the posters to them. On top of this, each poster will detail a specific aspect of a new Socialist society – with words and sentences adding to the depth and texture of the State transmission. Posters are a simple, inexpensive, and very powerful way of communicating between the Communist Party and the masses. A few years ago, I was told that there would be a display of North Korean propaganda posters in nearby Croydon on a Saturday afternoon. As this was only for a few hours on a single day, we could not attend due to work – not being able to get time off, etc. Still, with a direct line to North Korean news, I can see developments early every single day! I particularly appreciate the hammer, sickle, and the scholar’s brush (pen)!
