When George Galloway was appearing on Qatari media – the home of the anti-Socialist and anti-China Al Jazeera news outlet – he lambasted a Black British woman – Alex Scott – live on air (a former England-player). What was this lady’s perceived crime in Galloway’s eyes? Well, Alex Scott had criticised Qatar’s appalling Human Rights record in the light of that country being bizarrely awarded the 2022 FIFA World Cup. More specifically for Galloway, who now routinely expresses anti-gay and anti-trans hate on his podcast and interviews, Alex Scott dared to stand-up to the homophobic position of the Qatari government – which had stated that there was to be NO pro-gay advertising during the 2022 World Cup. Alex Scott remained the sole British footballer to make such a complaint. Of course, the ironies do not stop here. Whist Galloway was grifting away on Qatari TV – the Qatari government continued its pro-Israeli propagandizing with an absolute “silence” from Galloway. Iran is well-known for its anti-gay position, and low and behold an uncritical Galloway is straight there with his support (indeed, his Iranian guests seem to think that hating gays in part and parcel of its fight with Israel). For Galloway being “anti-gay” corresponds with his conversion to theistic belief – with all the now embarrassing “atheistic” videos he used to make and broadcast (when he was going through his “Communist” stage) being quietly deleted and removed from public access. Galloway now expresses a hyper-puritanical attitude but those who live in glass houses should not throw stones. His current wife is “30” his junior – meaning he was 30 when she was born. For many on the right of politics, as Galloway undoubtedly is today, this type of age-gap is viewed as degenerate in and of itself. Tantamount to deviancy of the highest kind. Perhaps the religious texts that Galloway extols today allow for this – but comparing himself to Dr Martin Luther King Jr, or indeed to “God” – has got to be the greatest outburst of egotism the ageing Galloway has ever trumpeted! If you watch the show carefully – providing you have the stomach – you will see how the guests are now made to read from scripts about how “great” Galloway is!
