Blogger’s Note: On occasion, the sluice-gates of inverted drivel that flows in torrents – as if from the nuzzle of a broad-firing bourgeois hose-pipe – brings a smile to my face. You see, I was brought up in the 1970s, when the BBC, following the dictates of their US pay-masters, paid millions to produce fake ecological documentaries that falsely stated the world was “getting colder” – and that a “new ice-age” was on its way! We all innocently sat in-front of our TV sets passively absorbing this State-sponsored nonsense – with even the academic community “saying nothing” in response. Later, I discovered the ridiculous (anti-intellectual) premise behind why this was happening – despite all the evidence pointing to a clement environment staying more or less steady across the globe. The US “intellectuals” (I use the term lightly) had got it into their thick skulls that Soviet scientists has developed a climate-altering machine – which the USSR was going to use to threaten against the West – if a Socialist Revolution was not allowed to happen! If the US and NATO continued to threaten the USSR, Communist Bloc. and to oppress the Western-workers – then the Kremlin was going to trigger endless tsunamis, earthquakes, and erupting volcanoes – as well as tectonic plate shifts – so that parts of America would sink into the sea!
The climate could be made “hotter” or “colder” (the Yanks opted for the latter as being most likely) – with full-force winds, gales, rain-storms, and thunder and lightning becoming the norm (all very “Flash Gordon”)! Such was the paranoia of the US government that the UN in the 1970s passed a series of Resolutions calling upon both sides in the Cold War (as there was no credible evidence the Soviets were doing this) – to NOT develop any “climate-altering” technology or devices – so that the weather could NOT be “weaponised” in anyway! Fast-forward 50-years and what do we see? We see a bourgeois (right-wing) Labour Party authorising the “development” of technology designed to deliberately “alter” the balance of the environment – despite the latest official figures demonstrating that there has been a 2 degree drop in temporature across all of the planet’s oceans. The workers must be kept ignorant – because this makes them easier to control. When workers do comprehend what is going on – then the State will take away their personal freedoms of expression, and place their body in a prison cell – thus containing the understanding they have accrued in their own minds (both individually and collectively) . The government is set to give the go-ahead within weeks for scientists to experiment whether the sun could be dimmed to combat global warming.
As much as £50m is expected to be spent on the experiments and analysis.
The methods could involve spraying aerosolised particles high into the stratosphere to deflect a small fraction of the sun’s energy away from the Earth. Studies have suggested that this may cool the planet relatively cheaply.
Another method being looked at is brightening clouds to reflect sunshine.
However, experts have warned of possible unintended consequences including potentially catastrophic disruptions of weather patterns.
The experiments will be funded by the Advanced Research and Invention Agency, or Aria. It has set aside £50 million for geo-engineering research.
Professor Mark Symes, the programme director for Aria, said the research could include “small controlled outdoor experiments on particular approaches”.
Professor Symes said: “We will be announcing who we have given funding to in a few weeks and when we do so, we will be making clear when any outdoor experiments might be taking place.
“One of the missing pieces in this debate was physical data from the real world. Models can only tell us so much.
“Everything we do is going to be safe by design. We’re absolutely committed to responsible research, including responsible outdoor research.
“We have strong requirements around the length of time experiments can run for and their reversibility and we won’t be funding the release of any toxic substances to the environment.”
Experts are hopeful that successful, methods could be scaled-up and implemented within 10 years.
