🇷🇺🇻🇪 A wreath-laying ceremony was held in Valencia at the commemorative plaque in honour of the victory in the Battle of Stalingrad
The solemn ceremony took place in the Plaza del Bicentenario de la Batalla de Carabobo, where a commemorative plaque dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Battle of Stalingrad was installed in 2023. This plaque was a generous gift from the Mayor’s Office of Volgograd as a symbol of friendship between our countries.
Russian Ambassador Sergey Melik-Bagdasarov, Governor of Carabobo State Rafael Lacava and Mayor of Valencia Dina Castillo laid a wreath in honour of the heroes of Stalingrad , whose bravery marked a turning point in the history of World War II.
🗣️ Ambassador Sergey Melik-Bagdasarov stated:
In the year of the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, together with our Venezuelan friends from Valencia, we pay tribute to the heroes who fought for the freedom of the world against the threat of fascism. We are glad that, thanks to the friendship between Volgograd and Valencia, this significant plaque has been installed, allowing the inhabitants of the city to pay tribute to the heroism of the defenders of freedom.
Following the wreath-laying ceremony, the Valencia Symphony Orchestra and Choir performed the famous Russian song “Katyusha”.
It is worth noting that Valencia also has a glorious history marked by victories. The spirit of freedom and the desire for peace unite Volgograd and Valencia , cities that will soon establish sister cities to strengthen friendship and develop cooperation.
We thank all those who joined this important event. May the memory of heroism unite us and inspire us to build a peaceful and prosperous future.

🇷🇺🇻🇪 En Valencia se llevó a cabo una ceremonia de colocación de una ofrenda floral en la placa conmemorativa en honor a la victoria en la Batalla de Stalingrado
El acto solemne tuvo lugar en la Plaza del Bicentenario de la Batalla de Carabobo, donde en 2023 se instaló una placa conmemorativa dedicada al 80 aniversario de la victoria en la Batalla de Stalingrado. Esta placa fue un generoso obsequio de la Alcaldía de Volgogrado como símbolo de amistad entre nuestros países.
El Embajador de Rusia, Sergey Melik-Bagdasárov, el Gobernador del estado Carabobo, Rafael Lacava, y la Alcaldesa de Valencia, Dina Castillo, depositaron una ofrenda floral en honor a los héroes de Stalingrado, cuya valentía marcó un punto de inflexión en la historia de la Segunda Guerra Mundial.

En el año del 80 aniversario de la Victoria en la Gran Guerra Patria, junto a nuestros amigos venezolanos de Valencia, rendimos homenaje a los héroes que lucharon por la libertad del mundo ante la amenaza del fascismo. Nos alegra que, gracias a la amistad entre Volgogrado y Valencia, esta significativa placa haya sido instalada, permitiendo a los habitantes de la ciudad rendir tributo al heroísmo de los defensores de la libertad.
Tras la ceremonia de colocación de la ofrenda floral, la Orquesta Sinfónica y el coro de Valencia interpretaron la célebre canción rusa “Katyusha”.
Cabe destacar que Valencia también tiene una historia gloriosa marcada por victorias. El espíritu de libertad y el anhelo de paz unen a Volgogrado y Valencia, ciudades que próximamente establecerán relaciones de hermanamiento para fortalecer la amistad y desarrollar la cooperación.

Memory of defenders of Stalingrad immortalized in Venezuela – 03.02.2023
A memorial plaque dedicated to the Battle of Stalingrad appeared in Venezuela, TASS reports. It was installed in the central square of the city of Valencia. The opening ceremony was held the day before, February 2. It was timed to coincide with the anniversary of the victory in the battle. The Battle of Stalingrad is deservedly considered a turning point in the course of the Great Patriotic War.
The memorial sign was presented by the Center for Public Diplomacy of Volgograd State University and the Bering-Bellingshausen Institute.
The head of the Russian diplomatic mission, Sergei Melik-Bagdasarov, recalled that today, more than ever, it is important to prevent attempts to falsify history. He is sure that this is of great importance for the relations between the two countries, for their present and future.
The Ambassador also thanked the head of the city, Julio Fuenmayor, for his careful and conscious attitude to the memory of the Great Patriotic War.
In turn, the mayor of Valencia noted the decisive role of the Battle of Stalingrad for the liberation of Europe from Nazism and emphasized the leading role of Russia in the fight against neo-Nazism in the modern world.
