Anyone who has visited a GP Surgery or Out Patient Department in the last four-decades – will have noticed a complete change in how the NHS is run. Although we (the UK Citizens) are paying billions in taxation – we are perceived as a ‘problem’ every time we are ill and need treatment from the medical services we have paid for in advance, so that we might receive treatment ‘free at the point of use’. Why are we a ‘problem’? Well, every time a Doctor or Nurse has to do something to help us – the cost of this medicalised interaction is cuts into the profit margins of the American firms that now own the British! New Labour even introduced the idea of NHS Staff ‘paying’ for parking spaces whilst performing their statutory 12-hour day and night shifts!
Meanwhile, massive queues of the desperate and the needy are shuffled through the cynically designed ‘Path-Ways’ designed to make people ‘give-up’ seeking treatment! St Helier Hospital in Sutton even employed ‘foot-prints’ superimposed on the outside pavement for patients to follow – differentiated by ‘colour’. This ‘Wizard of Oz’ option – as I called it – literally travelled in spiralling circles around the Car-Park – before finally leading the intrepid explorer into a ‘door’ which might lead them somewhere relevant! The hook seemed to be that if the patient conformed to this pointless display of social engineering – then their perseverance might pay-off in adequate treatment – but I doubt that assumption.
My local NHS GP Surgery is in fact a Christian Charity – if you can believe that. In the Waiting Room are a couple of copies of the Bible – which does not boost a patient’s confidence levels upon arrival! When a patient finally gets to see a GP – the first question is ‘Do you have Private Health Insurance?’ – with the quality of the interaction dropping from that point onwards. People are dying due to deficient NHS treatment and the medical neglect this causes. Remember, many private firms are permitted to carry the ‘NHS’ logo whilst providing none of the services the NHS provides – or hire Staff trained to the high level of NHS Staff!
