Diosdado Cabello, Secretary General of the PSUV Con El Mazo Dando

Venezuela: General Secretary Diosdado Cabello Rondón [PSUV]: No Surrender – Standing Firm Against US Imperial Aggression & the Kidnapping of President Nicolás Maduro! (8.1.2026)

Translator’s Note: I acquired the original Spanish text of this important speech from Telegram – and have linked the English-language version above. However, as you can see, the above is only a short extract that misses-out all the important points listed below. The phrase “Con el Mazo Dando” translates as “Hitting with a Sledge-Hammer” – signifying the devastating (dialectical) use of words as a rhetorical weapon in ideological education and communication. Diosdado Cabello Rondón is the General Secretary of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) – and in the below article states that over 100 people were murdered throughout Venezuela by the US Terrorist Acts – and that President Maduro was injured in the leg whilst Cilia Flores received head wounds (this explains why Cilia has not been seen). It is interesting to learn that Maduro insisted on walking (like the man he is) albeit with a limp – whilst his wife – being seriously hurt, demanded that she be kept with her husband wherever he goes. It is thought that this action saved the life of Maduro as Trump would have preferred that loose-end cleaned-up permanently. The point is that Venezuela is a Socialist country through and through and that no one supports Trump’s illegal actions. ACW (8.1.2026)

Venezuela does not surrender: the people stand firm against imperial aggression and the kidnapping of President Nicolás Maduro

Programme Con el Mazo Dando Nº 557 – January 7th

Caracas was once again the scene of a historic demonstration of consciousness, courage, and popular dignity. In a special edition of the programme Con el Mazo Dando, number 557, the Secretary General of the PSUV, Diosdado Cabello Rondón, addressed the country to clearly, firmly, and truthfully expose all the facts, consequences, and responsibilities arising from the criminal military attack against Venezuela and the kidnapping of the constitutional president, Nicolás Maduro, and the first combatant, Cilia Flores.

A program out of moral and political duty

Cabello explained that the program was not scheduled in the regular lineup, but that the gravity of the historical moment made it necessary to speak to the people, maintain direct contact, and confront the communication war. In contexts of aggression, he recalled, the first victim is the truth, and therefore it was essential to dismantle the international media manipulation.

Criminal attack against the Venezuelan people

The program host denounced that Venezuela was the victim of a barbaric and cunning military attack, with high-precision bombings that did not distinguish between military targets and the civilian population. The preliminary toll is devastating: more than 100 people killed and dozens of injured, including women, young people, and entire families who were in their homes.

Cabello was emphatic: the victims had no connection to any conflict. They were innocent citizens hit by missiles and shrapnel, in an action that he described as a war crime and a crime against humanity.

Civil, scientific, and health infrastructure under attack

Far from the imperial narrative that spoke of “military targets”, the programme showed conclusive evidence of attacks against:

 • Family homes.

 • Insulin and vital medication depots.

 • Storage centres for hemodialysis supplies, putting more than 9,500 patients at risk.

 • Universities and research centres, including the Venezuelan Institute of Scientific Research (IVIC) and the Centre for Mathematics Studies.

The type of weaponry used was even detailed, such as the AGM-154C-1 missile, confirming the use of military technology of war against civilian and scientific installations.

The kidnapping of President Nicolás Maduro and Cilia Flores

One of the central themes of the program was the denunciation of the kidnapping of the constitutional president, Nicolás Maduro Moros, and his wife, Cilia Flores, who are currently being held as prisoners of war.

Cabello reported that both were injured during the attack:

 • Cilia Flores suffered blows to the head and body.

 • Nicolás Maduro was injured in a leg.

He highlighted the gesture of courage and love of Cilia Flores, who demanded to accompany her husband at all times, and affirmed that this decision could have saved the president’s life.

The people’s demand is clear and unanimous: that they be returned alive to Venezuela.

Current Constitution and responsible leadership of the country

In the face of the kidnapping of the head of state, Cabello confirmed that the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela is fully in force. In strict adherence to the constitutional order, Delcy Rodríguez assumes as acting president, with the absolute support of:

 • All state institutions.

 • The Bolivarian National Armed Forces.

 • The police forces.

 • The organized people.

The maturity and serenity of the Venezuelan people, who have been able to maintain peace despite the aggression, was highlighted.

The real motive: Venezuelan oil

Cabello dismantled one by one the historical excuses of imperialism:

 • “Cartel of the Suns”.

 • Terrorism.

 • Human rights violations.

 • Lack of democracy.

He recalled that the US justice system itself recognized that the so-called Cartel of the Suns does not exist, exposing the great lie used for years.

The truth, he asserted, is only one: Venezuela’s oil and natural resources. All governments that tried to exercise sovereignty over their oil industry were attacked or overthrown. Today, Venezuela is once again paying the price for defending what belongs to it.

International complicity and shame

Cabello harshly criticized European governments and international leaders who, in order to curry favor with the United States, issued resolutions against Venezuela, froze assets, and endorsed aggression. Today, he said, they stand exposed before the world, lacking dignity and moral authority.

A united, conscious, and mobilized people

Contrary to foreign propaganda, Cabello assured that there is not a single demonstration in Venezuela supporting the bombings. What there is is a people in the streets:

 • Demanding peace.

 • Demanding sovereignty.

 • Demanding the return of Nicolás Maduro and Cilia Flores.

The communes, women, youth, and religious and popular sectors have mobilized throughout the country.

Human impact and a call for sensitivity

The program also addressed the psychological impact, especially on children who heard the explosions. Cabello called on teachers and families to lovingly explain what happened, without sowing hatred but without hiding the truth.

Chávez lives in the unity of the people

A large part of the programme was dedicated to the legacy of Commander Hugo Chávez, with historical videos that are now fully relevant. Chávez warned about imperialism, called for popular-military unity, and pointed to oil as the central cause of the aggressions.

Cabello affirmed that this scenario was anticipated by Chávez and that the people have fulfilled his fundamental instruction: unity, struggle, battle, and victory.

Nicolás Maduro: president of peace

It was recalled that Nicolás Maduro has always opted for dialogue, political coexistence, and work. He even spoke in English to tell the world: “Peace forever”. Yet, he was kidnapped, demonstrating that the aggression was not against a man, but against the homeland.

Venezuela does not surrender

The programme concluded with a slogan that sums up the national spirit:

#VenezuelaNoSeRinde

Cabello affirmed that the Venezuelan people have morality, dignity, and humanity; that they will not succumb to hatred or despair; and that the immediate goal is clear: the return of President Nicolás Maduro and first combatant Cilia Flores.

“No matter what happens — he concluded — we will win. Because today we have a homeland, we have a people, and we have a history.”
