Blogger’s Note: I often consider the manner in which a society treats its disabled (multi-abled) population – to be a mark of the level of civility contained within that society. Nazi Germany, for instance, preferred to murder its disabled children and adult population – and that is all I will say about that disgusting regime (Hitler also executed 800,000 German civilians who dared to oppose his mania). In the USSR, the sheer number of men, women, and children left with missing limbs, sensory and neural damage after WWII was in the high millions! Between 1941-1945, the Nazi Germans and its allies (most of Western and Eastern Europe, the Trotskyites and the Catholics) killed and wounded 41 million (27 million killed – 16 million wounded). Even before this – when the UK, Imperial Germany, and the US (and their Entente allies) – invaded Revolutionary Russia between 1918-1921, around 10 million Russians were killed (I am not sure about wounded – but I would hazard a guess of around 20 million). People are not taught that between April-November 1918 – British and German troops fought side by side in Russia – whilst their colleagues continued to kill one another in the mud of France and Belgium. The irony of this is that Imperial Russia was a loyal ally of the UK during WWI (1914-1917) losing around 5 million men killed and wounded. Lenin, wanting to stop the pointless bourgeois blood-letting – withdrew Russia from the war – with the capitalist countries (which are supposed to be Christian) rewarding Russia with even more killing! China, of course, fought Imperial Japan (and therefore an aspect of World Fascism) between 1931-1945 – with around 60 million men, women, and children being murdered by the Japanese throughout Asia (this included many White colonials – with some White women being used as Comfort Women). Indeed, a point often lost on many Western (left or right) – is that China was fighting fascism a long time before most Western countries – with the US at one point wanting to remain neutral – or take the side of Nazi Germany! Capitalistic war uses the bodies of humanity as fuel for the profit machine. War is good for business but bad for religion. How did the Christians solve this conundrum? Well, the Church decided to stop condemning war and just take a side – thus enforcing the profit motive. Disability can be genetic (in other words – born with), but it can also be created through accidents and warfare. Indeed, ageing causes all kinds of infirmities that need treating through science. It is through the meat-grinder of war, however, that the steady supply of broken minds and bodies are kept-up. These people are difficult to exploit and cost the State money to support – hence Hitler’s policy of eradication. Socialism takes a different tact. Disability empowers the caring capacity of the individual and the collective – this is a form of empowering profit! In return for this gift of service – society at large has a duty of improving the material and spiritual existence of these individuals – just as their presence in society lifts up the finer qualities of humanity! Thank goodness for Communist Party of China! ACW (24.12.2025)

A patient suffering from tetraplegia steered a smart wheelchair through the neighbourhood with only his thoughts and directed a robotic dog to fetch a food delivery. These scenes were achieved during a recent clinical trial of a brain-computer interface conducted by a team from the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).
This shattered the conventional boundaries of rehabilitation, carrying the brain’s command from a two-dimensional cursor on a screen into full-bodied, three-dimensional interaction with the physical world.
Brain-computer interfaces are designed to create a direct communication channel between the brain and external devices. Around the world, research groups have already demonstrated the laboratory feats, including “mind typing” and robotic-arm control. The enduring challenge is to make those systems reliable enough to vanish into a patient’s daily life.
The patient became quadriplegic in 2022 due to a spinal-cord injury and received the brain-computer-interface system, developed by the Centre for Excellence in Brain Science and Intelligence Technology under the CAS, in June 2025. Within weeks of training, he can reliably control a computer cursor and a tablet.
The researchers employed a high-through-put wireless invasive brain-computer interface system to enable the patient to stably control a smart wheelchair and a robotic dog using neural signals, achieving autonomous mobility and object retrieval in real-world settings.
It signifies that China’s research in the field is shifting from merely restoring basic interaction to expanding the real-life horizons of paralyzed patients.
The team also creatively fused two distinct decoding strategies to distil meaningful commands from noisy neural activities and boost the overall brain-control performance by more than 15 percent.
Moreover, the researchers squeezed the system’s end-to-end latency, from neural pickup to command execution, under 100 milli-seconds, which is below the body’s own reaction time, giving the patient control that feels fluid and natural.
