The Biblical Origin of the Term “Morning Star”! (1.4.2024)

Of course, as with everything “Biblical” – it all comes down to translation and interpretation. With a name like “Daily Worker” – it is obvious that such a newspaper represented a Revolutionary (Marxist-Leninist) viewpoint. However, with a probable shift toward Trotskyism (and Second International Socialism) – and the embracing of theistic religion – this title was replaced with the name “Morning Star”. This name often occurs in English-language translations of the Christian Bible – particularly renditions of the King James version. A five-pointed star is said to represent Marxist-Leninism – as each sharp-limb symbolises the spread (and penetration) of Marxist-Leninism into each continent of the world. The star is often “Red” to denote the Socialist ideology it represents. We are “freed” by the presence and activity of those who uphold the ideals of this symbol!

In the New Testament it is said that the Three Wise Men (Magi) travelled from the East – following a “Star” now thought to be Halley’s Comet (c. 12 BCE). Generally speaking, these three men are portrayed as Middle Eastern, Far Eastern and African respectively – each seated atop a camel and bearing exotic gifts for a “New King” who has been born amongst the ordinary people! Perhaps the Socialist Movement has borrowed this most Christian of symbols. Just as the colour “Red” derives from the blood spilt by the workers when attacked by the ruling Bourgeoisie (a white shirt of a dead worker covered in blood was tied to a stick and raised up by the crowds – as the workers possessed no other flag). The Bible reference for the “Morning Star” can be found in ISAIAH 14 10-15 – with the caveat that not all English translations use this precise term. For instance, the New Revised Jerusalem Holy Bible states the following:

They will all greet you with the words,

“You are now as weak as we are!

You have become like us.

Your pride has been flung down to Sheol

with the music of your Lyres;

under you a mattress of maggots,

and worms are your blanket.

How did you fall from the heavens,

Daystar, son of Dawn?

How were you thrown to the ground,

you who laid low nations?

You used to think to yourself:

I shall scale the heavens;

higher than the stars of God I shall set my throne.

I shall sit on the Mount of Assembly,

far away to the north.

I shall climb high above the clouds,

I shall become like the Most High.”
