The Department of Refugee Affairs and the Right of Return in the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine confirmed that the the enemy’s Parliament, the Knesset, approved a preliminary reading of a draft law designed to “Ban” the work of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees, UNRWA, throughout Occupied Jerusalem. This is a systematic step within feverish Zionist ideology toward ending the work of the Agency. By abolishing this relief work – the Zionists are pursuing the path that liquidates the right of return of Palestinian Refugees.

The Department added that the Zionist entity, with US and international assistance, has launched in recent weeks a major incitement campaign against UNRWA, fabricating a number of lies and accusations – forcing funding countries to cut-off support and end its work. This Zionist policy removes a major witness to the tragedy and catastrophe of the Palestinian people that bears the greatest role in attempting to prevent it. In providing relief to the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip – UNRWA is an objective witness to the deliberate Zionist War of Genocide that continues at this very moment.

The Department considered that this decision is hostile to the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights and an integral part of the ongoing Zionist war on the city of Jerusalem and its people, calling on the United Nations and the countries of the world not to accept and legitimise this decision. All Zionist and Western steps to end the work of UNRWA – or stop its services – support the desires and goals of the Occupation through a maliciousness liquidation of the Rights of Refugees.

The Department concluded its statement, stressing that the Palestinian people and the Refugee Community in the homeland (and the diaspora) will confront with all anti-Zionist force this criminal intent aimed at stopping the work of UNRWA in Jerusalem and elsewhere. The Palestinian people expect the United Nations to confront and reject this decision – not agree and identify with it.

أكدت دائرة شؤون اللاجئين وحق العودة في الجبهة الشعبية لتحرير فلسطين، أن مصادقة برلمان العدو ” الكنيست” على مشروع قانون بالقراءة التمهيدية لحظر عمل وكالة غوث وتشغيل اللاجئين الفلسطينيين ” الأونروا” في القدس المحتلة، خطوة ممنهجة متدحرجة، ضمن الأهداف الصهيونية المحمومة، لإنهاء عمل وكالة الغوث على طريق تصفية حق عودة اللاجئين.
وأضافت الدائرة أن الكيان الصهيوني وبشراكةٍ أمريكيةٍ ومؤامرةٍ دولية شن في الأسابيع الأخيرة حملة تحريض كبيرة على الأونروا، واختلاق جملة من الأكاذيب والاتهامات وإجبار الدول الممولة على قطع التمويل عنها، والتي تهدف إلى إنهاء عملها باعتبارها شاهد رئيسي على مأساة ونكبة شعبنا، ويقع على عاتقها الدور الأكبر في إغاثة أبناء شعبنا في قطاع غزة الذي يتعرض لحرب إبادة صهيونية مستمرة حتى هذه اللحظة.
واعتبرت الدائرة أن هذا القرار معاد للشعب الفلسطيني وحقوقه المشروعة وجزء لا يتجزأ من الحرب الصهيونية المتواصلة على مدينة القدس وأهلها، داعيةً الأمم المتحدة ودول العالم إلى عدم التعاطي مع هذا القرار، ومع أي خطوة صهيونية وغربية لإنهاء عمل الأونروا أو توقف خدماتها، استجابةٍ لرغبات الاحتلال ولأهدافه الخبيثة في تصفية القضية وحقوق اللاجئين.
وختمت الدائرة بيانها، مؤكدةً أن شعبنا الفلسطيني ومجتمع اللاجئين في الوطن والشتات سيتصدى بكل قوة لهذا القرار الإجرامي المعادي الصهيوني، ولكل خطوة تهدف إلى وقف عمل الأونروا في القدس وغيرها، وما ينتظره شعبنا من الأمم المتحدة أن تواجه هذا القرار وتفشله لا أن تتساوق وتتماهى معه.
