Many of the Telegram Channels that report daily on the Ukraine crisis are reactionary. They are incredibly popular with thousands of members who routinely express their racist, homophobic and misogynist attitudes! Although they claim to be ‘fighting Neo-Nazi Ukraine’ – all I hear out of their mouths in Hitlerite rhetoric! They seem to be relating to a ‘Russia’ that fought Nazi Germany between 1941-1945 – but NOT the other 14 countries that comprised the Soviet Union or the Socialist System the USSR represented! Modern Russia is fighting fascism – but modern Russia is ‘fascist’! Today, for instance, the Head of the Russian Communist Party made the most puerile reactionary speech I think I have ever heard when he compared Russia’s fight in 1941 to Russia’s fight in 2023! He actually begged for the truly ‘Revolutionary’ people in Russia NOT to be Revolutionary! He begged for those suffering under capitalism to voluntarily continue to ‘suffer’ for the good of Putin! It is enough to make your ears bleed! The glaring problem being that NOBODY is attacking Russia today other than the foreign mercenaries Putin hired to do the fighting in the Ukraine! It is Russia that has ‘invaded’ Ukraine – and NOT the Ukraine that has invaded Russia! Both Russia and the Ukraine are liberal, democratic (capitalist) States. Neither of these two States is ‘Socialist’. Ukraine has ‘banned’ the Communist Party – whilst Russia ensures that only the right kind of (inactive) Communist Party gets anywhere near political power in the Bourgeois System! The ‘real’ (Revolutionary) Russians do exist and lurk in the background – but they must operate carefully or run the risk of being arrested! Today, a number of these ‘true’ Communists suggested that the masses should rise-up and overthrow this terrible capitalist system that was forced upon the Russian people in 1991 – and yet all the Telegram News Channel ‘ridiculed’ these truly progressive people – stating that if Russia became ‘Socialist’ again they would lose the freedom to be homophobic, racist and misogynistic! Sometimes it is difficult to tell the difference between genuine Hitlerite Channels and those purporting to represent mainstream Russian opinion! Finally, when Gee was photographed a few years ago holding-up the flag of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) – an ethnic Russian poster enquired as to ‘who’ granted permission for a ‘non-White’ to carry their flag? The debate became so racist that we had to take the photograph down! This is when we switched our support to the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR)! These people seem a little more ‘sedate’ in their mania for Russia!
