Deconstructing Dr Ramtanu Maitra’s Article – Should the UK Apologise to India? (6.10.2023)

The rhetoric of this article is not ‘Socialist’, but Indian ‘Nationalist’ along the lines of the BJP and such historical (anti-Soviet) Indian leaders as Chandra Bose (1897-1945). If the UK should ‘apologise’ to India, then India should apologise to the world (and its own suffering masses) for becoming ‘capitalist’ in 1947 (when the British Labour Party granted it ‘Independence’), whilst its politicians deliberated rejected the ‘Socialism’ the Indian people so desperately required, instead adopting a pro-Western and anti-Communist position in the world. Genuine Marxist-Leninists should be very careful before associating themselves with this type of Trotskyite (distorted) narrative. This article is neither ‘Marxist’ nor ‘Leninist’, but smirks of the very nationalistic racism it claims to be exposing and uprooting!

India’s Embrace of (Eurocentric) Anti-China Racism and the Dalai Lama

I have been astonished (on more than one occasion). to witness intelligent Indian people that I know on social media – trumpeting BJP anti-China racism – and repeating news stories that are obviously ‘false’! Much of the anti-China film footage from these fake news stories is filmed in the US colony of Taiwan – where the Chinese language dialogue is different to that expected on the Mainland, the uniforms of the military are inaccurate, and the behaviour of the officials (or soldiers shown) is distinctly ‘non-Chinese’!

Opposing BJP (Hindu) Fascism

The BJP should not be allowed to hijack the vegetarian agenda through its fascist agenda, and the CPI (M) should consider a blanket vegetarian (vegan) response to the situation, and pull the economic rug from under industrialised (capitalist) farming industry – which I am sure provides ample profit to the BJP government.

Eurocentricism in the British Left

Marx and Engels were born in Europe, but the system of analysis that they developed transcended their own ethnocentric predicament, making the Marxist conception of history and dialectical analysis truly universal. Professor Yang Geng of mainland China, comments in his 2010 book entitled ‘Defense for Marx’, that Marx, through his genius, saw through his own historical conditioning, simultaneously completing, and transcending the entire philosophical project of the West.
