What do I think of the “Mary” (1916) elephant hanging in Texas? I have looked through the available data. Habeas Corpus – where is the body? No body – no material evidence. If a body of an elephant can be located, exhumed, studied, and confirmed to “Mary” the elephant – “executed” by the degenerates of a 1916 Texas – then we would possess tangible evidence. History confirmed in a material process. The “hanging” photograph does not look right. It looks like an elephant stood-up normally – altered to look like an elephant “hanging” from a crane by a chain. The other associated photographs mean nothing without provenance. There have been many dead elephants in the US – and so legitimate photograph of these different (and unrelated) elephants are a plenty. No proof – no evidence. I am also suspicious of all the so called “eye-witnesses” – all saying different things – and yet no-one knowing the one single concrete fact that would shed light on this entire affair – where is the body buried? It is odd that when it comes to specifics – no one is sure about facts – or where anything is or was. Where is the crane that supposedly carried-out the hanging? Where is the chain used in the hanging? Where is the written death sentence? Where is the legal evidence? I sincerely hope this story is a myth. It is a hideous display of human callousness. In 1903, American degenerates killed the elephant “Topsy” via electrocution – an equally hideous spectacle “filmed” for posteriority. Indeed, Topsy, after a lifetime of abuse, was considered too difficult to control and degenerates in Coney Island wanted to “hang” the animal. Apparently, Topsy died quickly – and this was 13-years prior to the alleged “Mary” incident of 1916 – which seems very poorly recorded by comparison. As I abhor animal cruelity – I do not want to directly share any alleged photograph of poor “Mary”. Instead I include a photograph of me sat with an elephant in Sri Lanka in late 1996 – a very gentle creature that liked to eat bananas and walk up and down the beach.
