Russia: Communist Party Update – October 4th Protest [2026] – Arrests & Warnings! (13.10.2026)

Translator’s Note: Modern Russia is a Bourgeois State. It is a capitalist system that practices liberal democracy. In 1991, the nascent (reactionary) middle-class seized control of the means of production from the workers – who let the process unfold because they were bedazzled by the lies of a mystical “greater freedom” – only to realise it was in fact the loss of all working-class power. Workers in Russia are now subordinate to a hostile Bourgeois State (class warfare). This capitalist entity now usurps “Internationalist” Soviet history – and reduced it to Russian “nationalist” aims and objectives. The USSR was 15-countries – not one – even if it is acknowledged that Russia played a vital part. The Red Flag is carried by the Russian military – not as a sign of the Socialism the USSR fought for – but rather as an expression of Russian (Bourgeois) nationhood. It has been reduced to a mere “battle honour”. Moreover, a quick glance at the internal workings of modern Russia demonstrates that the preferred life-style is that of the bourgeois individual empowered by predatory capitalism – bolstered by liberal democracy. Modern Russia internally mimics Western-European culture in everyway – but Russia’s external manifestation is hostilely confronted by the very same Western-European culture it so admires. Internal alignment – external dissonance. The West wants to seize hold of Russia’s Central Bank so that the US (Rothchild) can control Russia’s internal and external manifestation through the flow (and lack of flow) of money. The Central Bank was the one aspect of Soviet Russia Boris Yeltsin would not surrender to the US. The only other countries the US does not directly influence through the International Banking System – are the Socialist countries (and Iran and Yemen, etc) – this explains the hostility the West manifests against these entities. If the West controls the Central Bank of a country – then the West will tolerate any regime regardless of its brutality or degenerate ideology (post-Gaddafi Libya is an example of this. The US Ambassador was beheaded by his own Al Qaeda terrorist allies – with his head placed on a stick and paraded round the place as a trophy – Obama described this appalling act as a “Misunderstanding caused by a difference in culture.” A family of these Libyan Al Qaeda terrorists were resettled in England – where one of them blew himself up at a children’s music concert – held at the Manchester Arena. Prior to this, Libya, like Syria, and Iraq were Arab Socialist. South Yemen, of course, was the only Soviet State in the Middle East. Of course, Russia’s isolation in the international arena has led to its cosy-up to North Korea – which for some strange reason is treating “capitalist” Russia as if it were the old Soviet Union. Young North Koreans have fought and died for “capitalist” Russia. I have heard that at least two North Korean soldiers were captured alive by the Neo-Nazi Ukrainians – but instead of being sent back to their families in North Korea (as requested) – they were dumped in South Korea where they are undergoing intense torture and brain-washing in an attempt to make them defect. The Russian Communists are right – but is the timing right for clashing with the State? At this present dialectical manifestation, does the happenings of October 4th (1993) matter as much as the current and practical issues facing Russia – which are surely more pressing? If Russia loses its right to self-determination in the present time – then looking to the past will be outlawed anyway. ACW (13.10.2026)

Krasnaya Presnya, 2026.

The detentions near the Government House on October 4th were the most extensive in Moscow in recent years. More than 60 people, who had gathered to honour the memory of those who defended the Soviet government in 1993, were taken away in police vans. More than 20 people, including 6 members of our local branch, were issued with administrative offenses reports. Five more people, including our comrade, received sentences of 10 to 15 days in detention. What happened last Sunday, and what are the consequences?

For October 4th, a coordinated meeting with deputies from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (KPRF) and a memorial procession had been announced. The meeting took place near the monument to the heroes of the 1905-1907 revolution, with the participation of representatives from the KPRF, the Young Communist League, the Republican Party of Russia, the National Social Democratic Party, and other organizations. From the beginning, there were significant forces of the police and the National Guard (5-6 police vans). During the speeches by the deputies, slogans were shouted from the crowd, including in support of Nikolai Bondarenko. This is not unique. Due to “COVID” restrictions, KPRF events remain the only platform for publicly addressing the problems of our country. The first detentions began even near the monument, which was unusual. Our group decided to be cautious, we didn’t shout anything and stayed with the party members, but after half an hour, the detentions became widespread.

Then the procession began. Left-wing groups chanted various slogans. Some approached police vehicles and pointed at those chanting. Near the memorial, officers began to cordon off the crowd. Contrary to media reports, the detentions began before the mass chanting. When the police said that there would be no further passage, we wanted to turn back, but soon realized that we were not allowed to. Thus, 6 members of our local branch ended up in a police van and were taken to the Tverskoy District Police Department, where we were held for 11-12 hours before the administrative offenses reports were drawn up. Everyone behaved with dignity. It should be noted that most of the officers at the police station treated us with understanding. At the same time, representatives of the left-wing groups who were chanting slogans were quickly released without any reports. As of today, 5 members of our branch are awaiting trial, and 1 is serving a 14-day sentence.

What political conclusions can be drawn?

First, what happened should be considered a provocation. The Chairman of the Central Committee of the KPRF, Gennady Andreyevich Zyuganov, called it “shameless in its essence and provocative in its content.” This is a challenge to the entire society. Attempts to honor one’s history are met with police cordons. The provocative nature is evident in the disproportion between the mass detentions and the “scale” of the anti-government rhetoric.

Second, the informational aspect is important. At best, a few hundred people heard the slogans, and the discussion on the internet would have lasted a day. But the detention of 65 people made the event known to millions in the country and around the world. The actions of provocateurs from the oligarchic government give any political action a huge scale. Passersby watched what was happening as something incredible in Moscow in 2026. Who are we indebted to for the fact that the exercise of constitutional rights seems unheard of? The behaviour of some leftists put us in a difficult situation, but from the point of view of the spirit of the Constitution, they did nothing illegal. The greatest political responsibility lies with those who, for decades, have turned the political space into a wasteland.

Third, the cleansing of the political field is entering a decisive phase. Repressive actions indicate that the oligarchy is frightened and does not want to tolerate even the appearance of a democratic process.
