The incumbent Labour Party of 1950 (it would be elected out of power in 1951 due to pressure from Winston Churchill) was reluctant to have the British Army get involved in the US Aggression in Korea. It was thought that one Socialist entity should perpetuate bourgeois-war and attack another Socialist entity. However, despite this contradiction, the very same Labour Party had carried-out a pogrom involving the mass deportation of Chinese people from the UK in 1946, whilst committing the British Army in attacking and destroying the (Chinese [Hakka]-led) Communist Party of Malaya and their guerrilla fighters in the Malayan jungle (1948-1960). Added to this disgraceful behaviour, the Labour Party had unleashed war against the troops of the Communist Party of Greece between 1946-1949 – ensuring the Socialist allies of the UK during WWII were thoroughly destroyed (the British Army was assisted in this task by the Greek fascists and surrendered Nazi Germans).
After the US and its ROK subordinates had provoked the North Koreans into taking retaliatory military action – a full-scale war erupted between the free DPRK and the colonised ROK! Perhaps the real reason the Labour Party would not fully commit the British Army in 1950 in Korea is because it was already committed around the world! As matters transpired, a relatively small token British Force was sent to fight in Korea – invading DPRK territory. It was quickly smashed by the CPV. Indeed, a number of British POWs, as working class men, chose to stay in North Korea (or China) when given a choice after the war. Many are still there – but we are not taught about this in the West. The North Korean People’s Army and the CPV fought in very difficult circumstances against a much better armed and supplied Western opponent. They died in their hundreds of thousands in defence of Socialism! Even the great Paul Robeson once sang the Chinese National Anthem – in the Chinese language!
