It is time for Cards, red envelopes, coins, incense and banging the gong! The head of the household (me) – walks around the house banging a small gong over three-laps! The news is said to drive-out the old (stale) ‘Qi’ [氣] (Virtuous Energy) and welcome-in the ‘new’ energy – which in this year takes the form of a ‘green’ (wood) Dragon! As the Dragon (龍 – Long) is elusive, and given that I am embodying its Spirit at this precise moment – I do not appear in the photographs – and yet I am ‘everywhere’ throughout this ancient procedure!
The point is that at present, China is the oldest (unbroken) civilisation the World possesses at the moment! What we do today has been performed (in various guises) over thousands of years! No external aggression, hatred or disinformation will prevnt it! That is why we wish everyone Peace, Love, Health, Wealth and Good Luck in your lives! We Are Free – and So Are You! I have lit three incense sticks on the family shrine. This is a duty I have performed for over forty-years in my life and perhaps longer (in one way or another). This is a Confucian, Buddhist and Daoist duty designed to benefit any and all living (and ‘unliving’) things throughout the past, present and future!
