The Political Bureau of the Lebanese Communist Party sent a letter to the Secretary-General (and the Political Bureau) of the Sudanese Communist Party – stating:
The Political Bureau of the Lebanese Communist Party condemns the arrest of Comrade Haitham Dafallah, Editor-in-Chief of Al-Midan Newspaper – the mouthpiece of the Sudanese Communist Party – in a clear and scandalous violation perpetuated by the Militias of the Rapid Support Forces.
The struggle for power and influence between the Sudanese Army and the Rapid Support Forces, and their complex and suspicious external extensions, has led to the outbreak of bloody civil conflicts, the outcome of which is felt every day by large segments of the Sudanese people, especially amongst the (left-leaning) Progressive and National Forces. The recent outbreak of internal fighting has led to the killing, wounding and displacement of hundreds of thousands of Sudanese people – with news of attacks on the National Forces, their Headquarters and Media by those groups directly involved in the conflict.
The Lebanese Communist Party stands with the Sudanese Communist Party in this dangerous stage that threatens the unity, security and stability of Sudan. It also stands with the Al-Midan Newspaper and its Editor-in-Chief who was arrested by these Militias. In this context, the Party calls for the immediate release of journalist -Haitham Dafallah – and for the defense of democratic and journalistic rights, especially the National and Progressive Sudanese media.

وجّه المكتب السياسي للحزب الشيوعي اللبناني رسالةً إلى الأمين العام والمكتب السياسي للحزب الشيوعي السوداني جاء فيها:
يدين المكتب السياسي للحزب الشيوعي اللبناني اعتقال الرفيق هيثم دفع الله، رئيس تحرير صحيفة الميدان الناطقة باسم الحزب الشيوعي السوداني، في تعدٍ واضح ومفضوح من قبل ميليشيات قوات الدعم السريع.
لقد أدّى الصراع على السلطة والنفوذ بين الجيش السوداني وقوات الدعم السريع، وامتداداتهما الخارجية المتشعّبة والمشبوهة إلى اندلاع صراعات أهلية دامية يدفع نتيجتها كل يوم فئات واسعة من الشعب السوداني، وخاصة القوى التقدمية والوطنية. لقد أدّى استعار الاقتتال الداخلي مؤخراً إلى قتل وجرح وتشريد مئات الآلاف من أبناء الشعب السوداني، وتستمر أخبار الاعتداءات على القوى الوطنية ومقراتها ووسائل الإعلام من قبل أطراف الصراع.
يقف الحزب الشيوعي اللبناني إلى جانب الحزب الشيوعي السوداني في هذه المرحلة الخطيرة التي تهدد وحدة السودان وأمنه واستقراره، كما يقف إلى جانب صحيفة الميدان ورئيس تحريرها الذي تعرّض للاعتقال على يد هذه الميليشيات. وفي هذا السياق يدعو الحزب إلى اطلاق سراح الصحافي هيثم دفع الله فوراً، وإلى الدفاع عن الحقوق الديمقراطية والصحفية وبشكل خاص عن الإعلام الوطني والتقدمي السوداني.
