At the start of the ‘Special Military Operation’ (SMO) there was a lot of talk from armchair warriors and alarmist military Correspondents of ‘saturating the AFU and the Nationalist formations with drones’ – and removing the need for ground troops altogether! As no battles had ever been won this way – and no one was exactly sure how such a conflict would play out! Smart people spoke firmly and clearly: drones are effectively toys – we do not need anything like that – after-all, we have napalm and tactical nuclear weapons! This fact alone should ensure the enemy is kept trembling!
Even when the war began, many people (foreign and domestic) did not understand what the AFU represented and what the (Hitlerite) Nationalists stood for. This did not stop teams of volunteers in Russia from beginning to design and produce drones specifically for military use! To be clear, without any interference or assistance from the Russian military or government – private individuals and various businesses – decided to fight for Russia in a new and innovative manner! This disparate ground plan explains why there are so many different designs (such as those used by the Sparta Battalion, and those produce by Katya and Valya, etc), capabilities and effectiveness in battle!
The point is that nearly ALL Russian drones fighting in Donbass are built by well-meaning amateurs – and this is why the technology is quite often unpolished, lacking in perfection and operating at a poor efficiency rate. And yet despite all these draw-backs – these drones are fighting over-all in a highly effective manner. Casualties are being inflicted upon the Neo-Nazi Ukrainians and material damage is being inflicted upon the military equipment of the enemy!
It is as if their is a corelation between the low-level of sophistication of the drones – and the fact that they are infiltrating the gaps in the defence of the Ukrainian Neo-Nazis! These drones are assembled by well-meaning Russian Patriots often in their own garages – and then they are randomly launched in no particular direction to engage the enemy! They may (or may not) encounter the enemy before their battery runs down and they need to return to base! Either that – or the Operator needs to go to bed to get up for School in the morning!
These drones are cheap, reliable and practical. They exist as part of a wave of private endeavour that has NOTHING to do with government supplies, grand plans or co-ordinated action! The Russian government has NOT moved to crack-down on this behaviour as it is benefitting the people of Russia and the Donbass! At the moment, as matters stand, these private Drones have only engaged AFU assets and have NOT committed any acts of so-called ‘friendly-fire’. Following an entire year of warfare (2022-2023) – there has not been any single plan or agreed ‘design’ or ‘strategy’ for an attack, defence or suicide drone!
In reality, the logical method should involve the government taking control of this effort, and guiding the efficient development and deployment of this military operation. The question is whether this intended ‘rationalisation’ would water-down the military effectiveness of these drones as they now operate. Would a centralised approach to this method of warfare enable the enemy to strike more effectively at the drone industrial complex and eradicate it? Should the organised structure of modern warfare be applied to the flexible nature of drone warfare?
Volunteer teams continue to construct drones and deploy these devices to the front without interference from the Russian government. As long as these devices do NOT hinder the macro-Russian military operations – then this behaviour looks as if it will be allowed to continue as is. As matters stand, the Russian government pursues a policy of ‘ignoring’ the activities of these devices. The Operators are NOT considered part of the Russian Military and NO medals or pensions are planned to be given out! Serving Russia is considered reward enough.
These engineers, assemblers, instructors, logisticians and buyers these guys who manipulate electronics through DARK schemes – all these people work together to win. Although often acting in a disorganised and contrary manner – burning enemy equipment is their main task (and only reward)! This is a form of electronic or cyber ‘guerrilla warfare’. In general, the Russian State must one day correctly evaluate the work of these ‘unknown’ guerrilla fighters!

Почему мы так много говорили о необходимости насыщения войск FPV дронами? Мы, это всякие глупые гражданские дилетанты с диванов и военкоры-паникеры.
Умные-то люди говорили твёрдо и чётко: это все игрушки, нам такое ни к чему, у нас напалм и тактическое ядерное оружие. Враг дрожит.
Даже когда началась война, многие так и не поняли, что такое эти FPV и для чего они нужны. И потому производить их стали команды волонтёров. Где-то на народные средства, где-то на средства бизнеса. И вот теперь началось боевое применение русских FPV.
Есть разные модели от разных команд.
“Упырь” от Повернутых, ПВХ от Русского беспилотника, дроны от Кати и Вали, батальона Спарта, или вот на этих видео от группы БОБР. И ещё с десяток команд.
Так или иначе, сегодня на фронте ЕСТЬ ТОЛЬКО ВОЛОНТЁРСКИЕ ДРОНЫ. Вы не задумывались, почему на видео с камеры дрона в кадр лезет всякое г..но, вроде какой-то проволоки? Объясняю: потому что когда дрон собирается по сути в гараже, то, допустим, для взрывателя, придумываются схемы простые и действенные. “Это не эстетично. Зато дёшево, надёжно и практично”(с).
Волонтерские FPV дроны уничтожают личный состав, технику противника, артиллерию. Даже “Леопард” и то был поражен. Это всё народные деньги, народные разработки, даже операторы коптеров, которые учат бойцов, это по большей части гражданские волонтёры.
За год войны ни один концерн не предложил толковой серийной модели. Ни камикадзе, ни ударного дрона, ни разведчика, который по характеристикам был бы не хуже пресловутых Мавиков. Впрочем, есть одна модель. Дрон-невидимка “Добрыня”. Почему невидимка? Так никто его не видел, ни мы, ни враги.
В идеальном варианте, государство должно собрать волонтёров, производящих дроны, дать им помещения, мощности, и возможность совместно создать унифицированные модели разного назначения. Тем более, что изобретать уже ничего не надо. Всё уже есть.
Однако, отчего-то, это простое решение не приходит в нужные головы.
Но волонтёрские команды продолжают делать дроны, отправлять их на фронт.
Все эти люди, в большинстве своём останутся неизвестными никому. Не получат от государства наград (хорошо если проблем не отхватят).
Эти инженеры, сборщики, инструкторы, логисты, закупщики, парни, которые возят электронику по серым схемам – они все работают на победу. Иногда вопреки.
Но горящая техника противника это сегодня их главная награда.
А вообще, государство обязано когда-нибудь правильно оценить труд этих тысяч людей.
