On the occasion of “May 4th” Youth Day, the students of the Lhasa Special Education School – under the guidance of their expert teachers – performed the Happy Lhasa Standardized Dance to celebrate this Festival. This reporter learned from the delegation that the Communist Youth League in our district has grown and expanded over 60 years. At present, it has nearly 160,000 members and more than 6,700 organizations.

This expansion has formed with the Communist Youth League as its core, alongside the Tibet Youth Federation and the Tibetan Students Union. The Youth Organization System is supported by the Tibet Young Entrepreneurs Association, and the Tibetan Youth Calligraphers Association. Under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, the Communist Youth League in our region has become a loyal assistant and Reserve Army of the Communist Party, and is a political and ideological bridge (and link) between the Communist Party and the youth, and has become one of the important social pillars of State power.

On May 4, 1952, the Tibet Working Committee of the Chinese New Democratic Youth League was established in Lhasa. Over the past 60 years, under the strong leadership of the Communist Party of China, the Communist Youth League has always closely focused on the central tasks of the Communist Party in various historical periods in Tibet and actively participated in the Great Cause of Tibet’s Peaceful Liberation, Democratic Reform, Socialist Construction, and Reform and Opening-up. This has been an outstanding contribution to Tibetan and world history.

The youth of all ethnic groups in the region gathered around the bright Red Banner, contributed youth and wisdom to the comprehensive construction of a well-off society, swayed through passion and sweat, created brilliant achievements, and wrote a magnificent song of youth. During the period of Peaceful Liberation and Democratic Reform in Tibet, the majority of young people actively participated in Democratic Reform, Socialist Transformation and Socialist Construction, and formed a group of “Youth Commando Teams”, which has set off the building of a society that is advanced, progressive, and not backward in any way. The labour boom has triggered the economic boom throughout the region. Under the spring breeze of Reform and Opening-up, and in the journey of building a well-off society in an all-round way, the vast majority of young people in our region hold high the Great Red Banner of Patriotism and Socialism, keep up with the pace of the times, constantly emancipate the mind, always forge ahead with the Motherland, and develop politics, economics and culture of Tibet. The people worked hard and made brilliant achievements in maintaining stability, developing the economy, and promoting social harmony. They became the new force and Commando Team for building a ‘new’ Socialist Tibet.

It is understood that the regiments at all levels in the district actively fulfilled the responsibility of “leading the whole team” and led the development of the Young Pioneers in our district. There are more than 260,000 young pioneers in the district, and more than 1,300 young pioneers have organized and established relatively complete Youth Work System.
