Trier: Chinese Statue of Karl Marx Unveiled in Germany! (5.5.2018)

GIFT FROM CHINA: KARL MARX WELCOMED BACK IN HIS HOMETOWN!

As previously reported on this blog, the People’s Republic of China has sponsored a statue of Karl Marx to be placed in a public space in Trier (a city of Southwestern Germany), the place of his birth. Originally, a wooden replica was placed on display, but this was removed and replaced with the genuine (bronze) article yesterday (5.5.2018) – during a very popular ceremony marking the 200th anniversary of the birth of Karl Marx! Media reports also state that Communist China has financed the entire celebrations in Trier! This important event has been celebrated in China in a number of ways, including the issuing of special stamps. Many are of the opinion that the statue depicts Marx walking ro or from the British Library in London – where he carried-out much of the research for his masterpiece ‘Das Kapital’!
