By way of my life circumstance and my professional, academic interests and expertise, I maintain an extensive network of connections with ethnic Chinese people both within and outside China. Not only across the UK, but in other areas such as Taiwan, Singapore and Malaysia. Regardless of economic or political model, there is a common thread of language and culture which links all these living expressions of ‘Chineseness’ together. Chinese people may differ in their socio-economic outlook around the world, but are united in a common ethnic understanding. This reality is no different to any other ethnic group around the world. To ‘study’ China is to study all these distinct strands of the expression of Chinese culture around the world, and recognise a coherent thread running through its core despite any difference that may or may not exist on the surface.

China’s basic national policy of adhering to opening up has not changed, nor will it change. We always welcome foreign media and reporters (from various countries) to engage in interviews and make reports in China, in accordance with the laws and regulations – and will continue to provide assistance and make the process easy. What we are opposed to is ideological prejudice against China. We are opposed to the US generating ‘fake news’ and protecting this process through the so-called ‘freedom of the press’. We are opposed to acts that violate journalistic ethics. It is hoped that the foreign media (and journalists) will play an active role in promoting mutual understanding between China and the world.

The US bourgeoisie encourages gun-ownership and demonises gun-control whilst encouraging a country of 250 million ‘individuals’ (with no collective class consciousness) to use these guns against one another. Heavily armed Individuals that hate each other are more likely to spend their time threatening and killing one another in the name of ‘freedom’ (whilst being distinctly ‘unfree’), than in educating themselves to the unjust reality of the society they live in. The US bourgeoisie retains a sense of undeclared warfare within society, whilst exporting declared (and undeclared) warfare to any nation that dares to exercise self-determination. This is the state of ply today with the US being essentially an elected dictatorship at a time of capitalism in decay. This can and will change when the conditions are right, and probably in a very unique manner that no one can yet predict whilst assessing current data.
