Blogger’s Note: According to his biographical details, this individual was ordained as a Catholic Priest in 1980 – when he was around 24-years old. forty-six years later – at the age of 70 – he had worked his way up to the Bishop of Northampton. Prior to the 11th century CE, Catholic Priests could marry and have children – but to prevent their wealth being inherited by their sons (outside the Catholic Church) the then Pope passed the rule that “Priests” had to live like “monastics” – and remain “celibate” even though they live and work within lay-society – and are in regular contact with all the desire-mechanisms thus involved. This contradiction is often cited as a means to explain why it is that so many Catholic Clerics routinely commit crimes of a sexual nature. Of course, it is well-known that Catholic Priests have kept adult mistresses (of both sexes) – and even sired children (this situation has also involved nuns – with the caveat that naïve young girls have been “seduced” by Priests when first entering the Order as young teenagers). The keeping of adult mistresses is a moral failing contradicting Canon Law – but is considered lawful today in the secular world (in the old days – the two manifestations of law used to be synchronised – until various Kings started asserting their sovereign rights). The Pope stated that Henry VIII could not divorce – but the English King begged to differ – and therein lies the difference. Now, breaking ordination precepts involving consenting adults is one-thing (a legal endeavour in the secular world) – but breaking the same precepts by engaging in sexual activity with a minor (an underage child or youth – a concept that varies in definition from one country to the next) – is considered a criminal offense in the secular world. Of course, it is not just the Catholic Church that has indulged in this type of behaviour – as reports emanating from within the Protestant Church reveal much the same situation. Although Protestant Priests are not celibate and can get married – instances of sexual child abuse are recurrent from one generation to the next. Some of this abuse evolves around the thorny issue of homosexuality – with other abuse involving same-sex exploitation between adults and children. These acts are committed by adult Priests who preach against homosexuality whilst they secretly participate in its behaviour. The British Establishment tends to ring-post these incidents to give the false impression that each example is the only manifestation of its type – and that very few (or no) examples have happened in the past. Each example is treated as a “one-off” that “came out of nowhere” – when in fact these incidents are regular, continuous, and diverse. It must be stressed that on available knowledge, we do not know whether the offenses in question were committed before or after this individual was ordained. These details will come-out during the trial. ACW (26.6.2026)

A Catholic bishop has been charged with two counts of raping a girl under the age of 16.
Staffordshire Police said the Bishop of Northampton, David Oakley, 70, was arrested in September last year.
The Diocese of Northampton said the charges came after an investigation into “non-recent safeguarding allegations”.
“We understand that this will be very distressing for all concerned but cannot comment further on an active legal process,” a statement said.
Oakley, who was born in Stourbridge in the West Midlands, was ordained in 1980 and previously served in several parishes within the Archdiocese of Birmingham before becoming Bishop of Northampton in 2020.
The bishop remains withdrawn from public ministry.
Staffordshire Police said in a statement: “A man has been charged following an investigation by our Rape and Serious Sexual Offences team.
“Bishop David James Oakley, 70, who is white British, of Desborough, Kettering, has been charged with two counts of rape a female under 16.
“It follows his arrest in September 2025 following an allegation made to police. Oakley is due to appear at Cannock Magistrates’ Court on 14 August.”
