23-year-old recruit who has just joined the Self-Defense Forces

My Favorite Little Flower – March 26, 2026, 00:26, Shandong

On the morning of March 24, 2026, in front of the Chinese Embassy in Minato Ward, Tokyo, Japan, a break-in incident of a very bad nature occurred. A young man climbed over the wall from the fourth floor of a neighbouring building into the embassy area, carrying a controlled bladed-weapon and claiming (on the spot) that he wanted to kill Chinese diplomats “In the Name of God.”

To be clear, embassies in other countries count as China’s sovereign territory abroad. This kind of behaviour is no different from the violence committed by foreign State Organs aimed directly into the interior of China proper. In-short – this is an attack on China by a foreign State (Japan).

Fortunately, the (PLA) Security Personnel of the Chinese Embassy responded very quickly (quickly subduing the suspect), and the Japanese staff at the scene also cooperated in time to quickly subdue and control the man. There were no casualties during the whole process, nor did the situation deteriorate further, which can be regarded as a line of safety in the midst of misfortune.

Shortly after the incident, local media in Japan revealed the man’s true identity, and at the same time, the Japanese Metropolitan Police Department also acted quickly to launch a formal investigation and interrogation of him on suspicion of illegal trespassing into a building.

According to the subsequent notice issued by the Japanese police, the public learned that the man who broke into the hall was named Kodai Murata (村田晃大), 23 years old, not an ordinary citizen, but an active grassroots officer of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, with the rank of third-class lieutenant, commonly known as second lieutenant, and belonged to the Ebano garrison in Miyazaki Prefecture, Kyushu.

What is even more interesting is that the young man had just completed pre-deployment training in March 2026 and was assigned to the combat unit for the first time, less than a month before the incident.

According to his confession, the police then found the controlled bladed-weapon he was carrying in the vegetation zone outside the embassy, with the blade length being 18 centimetres. If he was allowed to approach the embassy staff, the consequences would be unimaginable.

After his arrest, the man admitted trespassing during police interrogation, claiming to want to express his views to the Chinese ambassador in person, and sometimes (and repeatedly) used extreme threatening and racist language. On the surface, this is obviously not a person’s impulsive behaviour, and the hidden problems are far more complex than they seem.

As the incident continues to ferment, many people have begun to re-examine the remarks made by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi ten days ago, and when they think about it, it becomes more and more chilling.

Just ten days before the break-in, Sanae Takaichi frequently made provocative China-related remarks in her public defense to the Japanese Diet, repeatedly promoting the absurd logic that “if there is something in Taiwan, there is something wrong with Japan”, and even boldly claimed that if Chinese mainland uses warships and force against Taiwan, this may become an “existential crisis situation” for Japan, and bluntly stated that according to Japanese law, the Self-Defense Forces have the right to exercise the so-called right of collective self-defense.

The meaning of these words is very clear, indicating that they intend to openly intervene in China’s internal affairs, obviously supporting Taiwan’s separatist forces, and even hinting that they may intervene in Taiwan Strait affairs by force, completely ignoring the one-China principle and completely violating the international order established after World War II.

Not only the remarks made ten days ago, but also the day before the storming incident, that is, on March 23, Sanae Takaichi also actively promoted in a public article that Japan should take the so-called road of strengthening its military, continue to promote the growth of its defense budget, and firmly regard China as Japan’s main imaginary enemy.

In recent years, Japan’s far-right politicians, led by Sanae Takaichi, have continued to cause trouble, first revising their national security strategy, abandoning Japan’s decades-old principle of exclusive defense, and using a large amount of taxpayer funds to purchase weapons and build military facilities. At the same time, they continued to increase their troops in the southwestern islands close to China, overtly and covertly treating China as an opponent.

More importantly, these politicians not only provoked provocations in the political arena, but also united with many Japanese media to continue to hype the so-called “China threat theory” in China.

Japan’s major television stations and newspapers have long continued to publish reports discrediting China, distorting China’s development, repeatedly hyping up some fictitious events, and gradually instilling a negative view of China in ordinary Japan.

Over time, anti-China sentiment has gradually been seen as a so-called political correctness in Japan. Whoever dares to objectively praise China will be slammed by right-wing forces, and shouting a few anti-China slogans can easily attract attention and traffic, and even use it to promote themselves on the political stage

In this context, far-right ideology and forces in Japan are becoming more and more rampant, and anti-China extreme sentiment among the people is also intensifying.

A 23-year-old recruit who has just joined the Self-Defense Forces and listens every day to the prime minister and senior military officers call China a “threat”, while various media continue to report on China’s negative image.

We can seriously think about how could a Self-Defense Force officer who has just joined the army for less than a month have the courage to do so in violation of international law and directly challenge the bottom line of Sino-Japanese relations?

As we all know, the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations clearly stipulates that embassies and their diplomatic personnel abroad are strictly protected by international law, and no country or individual may illegally trespass or threaten the safety of diplomatic personnel. The man’s actions not only violated Japan’s domestic law, but also seriously violated international law, posing a great threat to our country’s sovereignty and the safety of diplomatic personnel.

Immediately after the incident, the Chinese Embassy in Japan made solemn representations and strong protests to the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs also expressed deep shock at this incident and demanded that Japan immediately conduct a thorough investigation into the incident, severely punish the relevant personnel, and give China a responsible explanation. At the same time, Japan must take practical and effective measures to ensure the safety of our embassies and consulates in Japan, diplomatic personnel and Chinese citizens in Japan, and must not allow similar incidents to happen again.

Now, looking back at Sanae Takaichi’s remarks ten days ago, it is clear that her radical statements are not accidental, nor are they simple slips of the tongue, but are clearly throwing weapons at extremist forces in Japan, continuing to lay hidden dangers in the already tense Sino-Japanese relations.

She has always believed that by inciting anti-China sentiment, she can consolidate her political position and promote Japan’s so-called “normalization of the country”, but ignores this practice of constantly provoking confrontation and exaggerating conflicts, which will only reap the consequences in the end.

As the prime minister of a country, if he does not consider how to live in harmony with his neighbors or how to let his people live a peaceful life, but constantly exaggerates threats, intensifies confrontation, and even does not hesitate to touch the bottom line of history and international law, this is an extremely dangerous thing in itself.

This break-in incident seems to be an extreme behaviour of some individuals, but in fact it reflects the continued spread of right-wing ideology in Japan and the intensification of anti-China sentiment. It all started with the public incitement of Japan’s top political circles, followed by the continuous smearing of media and public opinion, which eventually led to the continuous accumulation of extreme sentiments among the people, which led to this serious incident.

At present, the incident is still under in-depth investigation, and what kind of punishment the people involved will face, whether they can obtain a fair outcome, and whether Japan can effectively curb domestic extremist forces and correct its wrong China policy are all the focus of attention from the outside world. Not only in China, but all over the world, the eyes of this situation are watching.
